摘要： A distributed amplifier with improved stabilization includes an input transmission circuit, an output transmission circuit, at least one cascode amplifier coupled between said input and output transmission circuits. Each cascode amplifier includes a common-gate configured transistor coupled to the output transmission circuit, and a common-source configured transistor coupled between the input transmission circuit and the common-gate configured transistor. The distributed amplifier also includes a non-parasitic resistance and capacitance coupled in series between a drain and a gate of at least one of the common-gate configured transistors for increasing the amplifier stability.

摘要： Techniques for providing adjustable gain in an amplifier. In an aspect, a composite amplifier having adjustable gain includes a plurality of amplifiers coupled in parallel, wherein each of the amplifiers may be turned on or off to adjust the overall gain of the composite amplifier. Each amplifier may include an input transistor and at least two cascode transistors. To turn each amplifier off, the gate voltage of a second or lowermost cascode transistor coupled to the input transistor may be grounded, and the gate voltage of a first cascode transistor coupled to the output voltage may be coupled to a first turn-off voltage to reduce the drain-to-gate voltage drop across the first cascode transistor. Further aspects provide for decoupling a capacitor coupled to the gates of the cascode transistors from AC ground when the amplifier is turned off.

In an RF Power Amplifier (PA) having appropriate output filtering, or in a quad mixer, stacks of two or more FETs may be used to permit the use of increased voltages between the two nodes. Power control for such RF PAs may be effected by varying a bias voltage to one or more FETs of the stack. Stacks of three or more FETs may be employed to control conduction between any two nodes of an integrated circuit.

摘要： A multi-gain LNA with inductive source degeneration is presented. The inductive source degeneration is provided via a tunable degeneration network that includes an inductor in parallel with one or more switchable shunting networks. Each shunting network includes a shunting capacitor that can selectively be coupled in parallel to the inductor. A capacitance of the shunting capacitor is calculated so that a combined impedance of the inductor and the shunting capacitor at a narrowband frequency of operation is effectively an inductance. The inductance is calculated according to a desired gain of the LNA. According to one aspect, the switchable shunting network includes a resistor in series connection with the shunting capacitor to provide broadband frequency response stability of the tunable degeneration network. According to another aspect, the LNA includes a plurality of selectable branches to further control gain of the LNA.
