The brazing process includes positioning a braze foil on a first workpiece, then securing the braze foil to the first workpiece to form a brazable component, then positioning a second workpiece proximal to the brazable component, and then brazing the second workpiece to the brazable component. Additionally or alternatively, the brazing process includes positioning the braze foil on a tube, then securing the braze foil to the tube to form a brazable tube, then positioning a plate of a plate assembly proximal to the brazable tube, and then brazing the plate to the brazable tube. The plate assembly includes a plate and a tube brazed to the plate by a braze foil secured to the tube.

Each hole has a countersunk region that descends into the plate from the first surface. Tube assemblies are provided. Each tube assembly has a first end, an opposite second end, and a flare structure. The flare structure is sized to be fully received within the countersunk region. The tube assemblies extend through the holes in the plate. The flare structure of each tube assembly is welded to the plate within the countersunk region of each hole through which each tube assembly passes.

Each heat exchange tube has its inlet end in fluid flow communication to an inlet header through a transition connector. The transition connector has a body defining a divergent flow path extending from an inlet opening in its inlet end to an outlet opening in its outlet end, and a tubular nipple extending outwardly from the inlet end of the divergent flow path through the wall of the inlet header. The tubular nipple defines a fluid flow path extending between the inlet end of the divergent flow path of the transition connector and the fluid chamber of the inlet header. The inlet header has a lateral dimension less then the lateral dimension of the heat exchange tube.

摘要： A heat exchanger includes a plurality of flat, multi-channel heat exchange tubes extending between spaced headers. Each heat exchange tube has a plurality of flow channels extending longitudinally in parallel relationship from its inlet end to its outlet end. A plurality of connectors are positioned between the inlet header and the heat transfer tubes such that the connector inlet ends are in fluid flow communication with the header through a relatively small cross-sectional flow area openings and the connector outlet ends are adapted to receive the inlet end of a heat exchanger tube. The connector defines a fluid flow pathway from the relatively small cross-sectional flow area opening in the inlet end of the connector to an outlet opening in the outlet end of the connector that opens to the flow channels of the heat exchange tube received in the outlet end of the connector.
