    • One embodiment of the present coupler comprises two or more conduits for transporting fluid. Each of the two or more conduits has at least one end defining an opening in said conduit, and each of the conduits has an axis running parallel to the flow of fluid through said conduit. The coupler further comprises a housing body having a first housing planar surface. The housing body holds the two or more conduits in alignment wherein the axis of each conduit is substantially parallel, and at least one end of each conduit is aligned about said first housing planar surface. And, the coupler has a cap element having a cap planar surface. The cap planar surface is fixed to the first housing planar surface in sealed engagement. At least one of the first housing planar surface and the cap planar surface has a channel in fluid communication with the opening in the conduits. The channel allows two or more fluid streams, each fluid stream defined by one of said conduits, to be placed in communication.

    • FIG. 2A shows an alignment and sealing arrangement for connecting two non-gender opposed conduit parts (20) and (20'). Seal (22) is captured by two opposed seal protrusions (20C) and (20C') residing on conduit part's end. Bore (18A) of alignment element (18) closely receives opposed alignment protrusions located on conduit parts' end. The alignment protrusions are substantially referenced to their respective passageways. Axial force is applied to displace opposed conduit parts toward one another to cause seal protrusions to compress seal, drawing conduit parts' passageways (20E) and (20E') into an aligned relation, and reducing adjacent mating faces into approximate flush relation with one intersection (30). This coupling has one seal removed from direct contact with media, eliminates any appreciable media entrapment space, and desirably reduces flow disturbance along passageways of conduits.

    • A fitting or fitting assembly is provided that comprises a fitting body having an enlarged first end, a nut having a circumferential ridge that has a diameter less than the first end of the fitting body so that the first end prevents the nut from sliding further in one direction, and a ring that is adapted to be assembled onto the exterior surface of the fitting body to prevent the nut from sliding further in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The nut has interior threads that are adapted to receive the external threads of a mated fitting. A method for assembling the fitting comprises the steps of sliding a nut having an internally threaded portion onto a fitting body having an enlarged end that prevents axial movement of the nut in a first direction, and press-fitting a retention ring about the fitting body at a desired position in order to limit the axial movement of the nut in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

    • A unitary assembly of tubing and an end fitting. The end fitting comprises a threaded fastener fitting having a tubular bore extending therethrough. An undercut annular groove is coaxially provided in the wall portion of the tubular bore which is spaced apart from the end of the fitting. The opening of the tubular bore at the end of the fitting is provided with an undercut counterbore. The end of the tubing is inserted through the opening and into the tubular bore until it engages a stop formed by a reduced diameter portion of the tubular bore at the axially inward end of the undercut annular groove. A ball mandrel is inserted through the opening at the other end of the tubular bore to engage and force the end portion of the tube into the undercut annular groove. A braze ring is inserted into the undercut counterbore the latter of which allows a braze fillet to form during the brazing operation.
