    • One embodiment of the present coupler comprises two or more conduits for transporting fluid. Each of the two or more conduits has at least one end defining an opening in said conduit, and each of the conduits has an axis running parallel to the flow of fluid through said conduit. The coupler further comprises a housing body having a first housing planar surface. The housing body holds the two or more conduits in alignment wherein the axis of each conduit is substantially parallel, and at least one end of each conduit is aligned about said first housing planar surface. And, the coupler has a cap element having a cap planar surface. The cap planar surface is fixed to the first housing planar surface in sealed engagement. At least one of the first housing planar surface and the cap planar surface has a channel in fluid communication with the opening in the conduits. The channel allows two or more fluid streams, each fluid stream defined by one of said conduits, to be placed in communication.

    • A coupling is provided to hold together a cone and socket joint between items of laboratory glassware. A first annular member is positioned about the cone portion of the joint and has a male threaded end. A second annular member is positioned about the socket portion of the joint and has a female threaded end which may be screwed onto the male threaded end of the first annular member. The first annular member has a seat which engages with an elastomeric sealing ring so that as the first and second annular members are tightened together the elastomeric sealing ring is compressed into the external line of junction corresponding to the outermost circumference of contact between the cone portion and the socket portion of the assembled joint. The second annular member locates indirectly behind the external strengthening lip around the mouth of the socket portion by means of an interjacent ring which has a male frustoconical surface. The second annular member has an inwardly directed flange formed with a female frustoconical surface which cooperates with the male surface of the interjacent ring whereby, in the assembled coupling, the axis of the assembled coupling is aligned with the axis of the cone and socket joint and the interjacent ring is urged radially inwards behind the socket portion of the joint.

    • A fluidic coupling device includes a housing, and a piston, spring, and cap insertable in the housing. The spring includes a stack of spring washers and is compressible between the cap and the the piston. The cap is threadedly engageable with the housing and movable into contact with the spring. The device may be coupled to a component in a sealed manner by inserting a ferrule between the piston and the component, inserting a conduit through the housing and into the component, and threadedly engaging the housing with the component, thereby compressing the spring and translating the piston against the ferrule. The device may enable coupling to be done manually, with minimal variation in compressive loading. The piston and spring may desensitize the device to thermal cycling effects, reducing the need for retightening.

    • A fitting element is configured for coupling tubing to a fluidic device having a receiving cavity configured for receiving the fitting element, where the tubing has an inner contact surface of a biocompatible material, the inner contact surface being configured to contact a fluid to be conducted by the tubing, and the receiving cavity having a receiving contact surface of a bio-compatible material. The fitting element includes a first sealing element of a bio-compatible material configured for sealing to the bio-compatible material of the inner contact surface of the tubing, and a second sealing element configured for sealing against a pressure ambient to a pressure of the fluid in the tubing. Upon coupling of the tubing to the fluidic device, at least a portion of the receiving contact surface, the first sealing element, and the second sealing element enclose an interspace, each surface of the interspace being a bio-compatible material.
