    • A microchannel double pipe device comprises a channel for inner nozzle (4), a channel for outer nozzle (5) and a mechanical probe (8). The channel for outer nozzle (5) concentrically surrounds the channel for inner nozzle (4), and the channel for inner nozzle (4) concentrically surrounds the mechanical probe (8). Constricted at the outlet of the channel for inner nozzle (4), the channel for inner nozzle (4) extends to form an inner nozzle core (9). Constricted at the outlet of the channel for outer nozzle (5), the channel for outer nozzle (5) extends to form an outer nozzle core (10). The outer nozzle core (10) essentially concentrically surrounds the inner nozzle core (9), and the outlets of the inner nozzle core (9) and the outer nozzle core (10) are at the same level essentially. The mechanical probe (8) is configured to intermittently empty the inner nozzle core (9). The device can be used for microcosmic mixing and reaction, especially suitable for continuous preparation of inorganic, organic or medicine particles with nanostructure or micron-structure using liquid-liquid precipitation method.

    • A method, apparatus and computer-readable medium for determining deformation of a plurality of coupled members. A distributed strain sensor string on a first member is coupled to a distributed strain sensor string on a second member. Signals are obtained from the sensor strings. A subset of strain data relating to sensor strain on the first member and the second member is created. A virtual sensor string is created having a plurality of virtual sensors placed on the first and second members including a joint therebetween. Strain data of sensors in the distributed stain sensor strings is mapped to sensors in the virtual sensor string. The deformation of the plurality of coupled members is determined using the strain data of the virtual sensors.

    • A versatile drug testing device (a lateral flow diagnostic testing device) includes a flat transparent carrier with a top and a bottom with the carrier having a series of independent parallel grooves formed therein running from adjacent to the top to adjacent to the bottom of the carrier, each groove having a first opening and a second opening above the first opening therein adjacent to the bottom of the carrier, at least one drug test strip installed in one of said grooves with its absorbent pad contiguous to the openings and a cover layer attached to the carrier operable to sealing close each of said grooves whereby the bottom of the device can be immersed in a specimen of urine, body fluid, or other biological specimen to wet the pad of the at least one test strip though the ingress of the specimen though the associated openings and the test results on the test strip can be easily viewed through the transparent carrier. Because of the unique construction the device will give accurate reading if temporarily immersed in the specimen or left in the specimen for an extended period of time, making it very user friendly.
