The working table structure has at least one working table top disposed above the movable frame in directions parallel to the X-axis and removably supported on the support frame. Since the working table top is disposed above the range of movement of the movable frame with respect to its complete range of movement in directions parallel to the X-axis, the working table top will not interfere with the movable frame. Further, since the working table top is removable, maintenance service for the driving mechanisms can be carried out without any hindrance.

    • A quantization circuit samples input digital data represented by a predetermined number of bits fed during a given period on a sampling period shorter than the digital data input period and converts the sampled data into quantized digital data having a fewer number of bits than the input digital data. Quantization noise at the quantization circuit is fed back into an input side of the quantization circuit to form a noise shaping loop. The noise shaping loop is provided with an auxiliary loop containing an integrator, and the integrating result is selectively added. Then, the noise shaping loop degree can be changed by determining whether or not the integrating result is to be added. An infinite impulse response filter is located on a feedback loop of the noise shaping loop for averaging noise, thereby improving the noise removing performance without raising the noise shaping loop degree.

    • A method of and apparatus for effecting spatial coordinate measurement of the contour or the like of an object to be measured in which a plurality of probes are successively used in accordance with the modes of measurement. In one of the probes adapted for measuring the roundness or the like the object, the posture of the probing tip can be changed relative to the main body of the probe by the driving operation of a threaded shaft which extends in the direction perpendicular to the axis of the main body of the probe. A means for driving this threaded shaft is disposed on the side of a probe stocker. The posture of the probing tip is thereby preliminarily changed so as to enable a corresponding predetermined measuring process in which the probe will be used.
