摘要： An undertread measuring apparatus which includes a lift cylinder for rasing and lowering a sensor support assembly. The support assembly is attached to a support rod by two collars so that the assembly can rotate away upon impact and will automatically realign itself. The assembly is lowered by the lift cylinder at an angle from the vertical so that first one sensor comes into contact with the tire and then the other. The support assembly has two rollers offset from each other so that the sensor head will locate itself at the correct distance from the tire.

The extruder has at least one die mouth facing a carcass sidewall. The mouth is a slot having a width and a length. The width extends in a direction of rotation of the carcass and is delimited by an upper and a lower edge. The length extends radially across the carcass sidewall. The slot has an outlet opening defining an area whose normal is slanted toward the carcass sidewall such that in the direction of rotation the upper edge of the slot is closer to the carcass sidewall than the lower edge of the slot.

摘要： A method and an apparatus for contouring the shoulder areas of retreaded tires is disclosed. A cutter, preferably having a heated blade, is disposed proximate at least one shoulder of a retreaded tire. The retreaded tire is then rotated, while the cutter blade is moved into contact with the side wall of the tire proximate the joint between the tire casing and the tread layer. A portion of the tire casing and the tread layer is cut away along the entire shoulder area of the retreaded tire to provide an aesthetically pleasing contoured surface extending from the tire casing to the tread layer.

摘要： An Apparatus for applying cushion gum to a periphery of a tire casing without cement includes a conveyor having a forward roller near the tire casing. The conveyor is mounted on a carriage that is movable relative to its base so that the conveyor can be moved to contact the tire casing. The conveyor moves the cushion gum below an infrared heater to heat an interface side of the cushion gum to increase its tack and then moves the heated cushion gum between the forward roller and the tire casing. The forward roller of the conveyor applies the cushion gum to the periphery of the tire as the cushion gum exits the conveyor and first contacts the tire casing. A supply roller is provided to move the cushion gum from a supply roll to the rear end of the conveyor. A cutting mechanism is provided between the supply roller and the conveyor to selectively cut the cushion gum.

摘要： Tire recapping or retreading apparatus and method including the use of a tread mold with a plurality of mold segments. A tread mold loading machine is used to position the prepared tire carcass relative to the mold segments and to install the mold segments on the exterior of the tire carcass. The mold segments are retained in place on the exterior of the tire carcass by a tension band. Resilient elastic tension bands or pre-stressed metal tension springs hold the mold segments on the tire carcass after the mold segments have been released from the tread mold loading machine. The use of the tread mold loading machine and the mold segments eliminates distortion of the tire carcass during installation of the tread mold.
