The tension member is wrapped around the tensioner body and retained in the path. In this configuration, the tensioner acts to retain a first length of the tension member within a second, shorter length corresponding to the length of the tensioner body. When the effective length of a tension member is reduced, the amount of sag in the tension member is reduced.

The distal arms are insulated by insulators (130). The reverse hinge acts such that when the proximal arms are moved apart, the distal arms are brought together. The distal arms of the reverse-scissor component are attached to a power line (120) such that when the distal arms are brought together, the slack in the power line is taken up automatically as ambient temperature increases.

    • A temperature and stretch compensating wire tensioning system. In parallel wire capacitive security systems, the maintenance of proper tension in the sensor wires in essential in order that false alarms be avoided as a result of movement of the sensor wires in the absence of an intruder. In the present invention, "V"-shaped plastic tensioners are used on several of the wire support posts in cooperation with wire guides on other posts to provide the requisite wire tension. The plastic tensioners are constructed from pairs of identical elongated arms each having an open loop at the proximal end thereof adapted to snap onto a support post for easy assembly of a security system in a manner which keeps them perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the post and directed tangentially away from the outer surface thereof. Rotation of the tensioning arms relative to each other is effectively prevented by an interlocking tab on each of the tensioners attached to the open loop and directed away from the plane thereof in such a manner that the corresponding tab on each tensioning member engages that of its associated sister tensioning member forming the pair thereby preventing relative motion of the tensioning members and forming the "V"-pattern.

    • A grip for pulling cable, especially fragile cable such as fiber optic cable. The grip can pull such fragile cable with or without a fragile connector at the end thereof. The grip comprises a rigid, hollow protective sheath with an open tail end for receiving the cable end therein, a pulling device coupled at the lead end of the sheath, and a braided open wire mesh sleeve coupled at the tail end of the sheath for engaging the cable upon a longitudinal stretching thereof which radially reduces the sleeve around the cable. The pulling device can be a flexible wire loop rotatably coupled to the protective sheath. The open wire mesh sleeve can be closed along its length, split along its length or both closed and split in the two sections along its length. A method of inserting the fragile cable with a fragile connector at the end includes the steps of inserting a hollow rigid tube into the sleeve, inserting the fragile connector into the tube, removing the tube from the sleeve, maneuvering the connector into the protective sheath and radially reducing the sleeve by stretching.
