    • A bandpass/lowpass filter comprises a bandpass filter with two or more resonators with the first and last resonators coupled to associated connectors. Corresponding lowpass filters are positioned within the first and last resonators, wherein each lowpass filter comprises a plurality of low impedance and high impedance elements. A disk emanates from each of these integrated lowpass filters so as to couple the filtered electromagnetic energy to the bandpass filter. The overall result is an integrated filter having a desired bandpass with significant suppression of spurious frequencies. The overall integrated filter is significantly smaller than conventional filters using external inline lowpass filters.

    • For suppression of high-frequency spurious signals (noise) present on an electrical transmission line, the line incorporates at least one section comprising a distributed low-pass filter. This section is constructed so that its wave impedance (Z.sub.1) has a different value than the wave impedance (Z.sub.0) of the neighboring line sections. This filter line section additionally provides considerable dielectric losses and/or skin effect losses. At both ends of the filter line section, at which the wave impedance changes, multiple reflections arise that attenuate the high-frequency spurious signals (noise). The dielectric or skin effect losses produce strong attenuation of the undesired resonances that arise from the reflections, as well as further attenuation of spurious signals in the highest frequency region.

    • A coaxial cable isolator includes a stepped diameter tubular outer conductive element and a threaded smaller diameter inner conductive element coaxially aligned therewith to form an interruption. A ceramic structure is positioned in the interruption and includes three ceramic capacitive elements, each having a different temperature coefficient selected to provide a minimum of 3.8 and maximum of 5.0 nanofarads of capacitance over the 0 degree Centigrade to +45 degree Centigrade operating temperature range of the isolator. Two ferrite elements for EMI absorption are sandwiched between the three capacitive elements.

    • A band-stop filter for VHF-UHF band comprises at least three series resonance circuits and at least two transmission lines each connected between the series resonance circuits. One of the transmission lines, which is connected to the input terminal of the band-stop filter, has an electrical length which is shorter or longer than the quarter wavelength of the center frequency of the stop band by more than 20 but less than 50 percent. When a band-stop filter comprises four transmission lines, one of the transmission lines, which is connected to the output terminal of the band-stop filter, has the same length as the transmission line connected to the input terminal. With this arrangement, the band-stop filter exhibits a sharp attenuation characteristic in a frequency range below or above the center frequency. Other transmission lines, which are not directly connected to either the input terminal or the output terminal, may have a length which is shorter or longer than the quarter wavelength by 5 to 20 percent so as to provide a sharper attenuation characteristic.

    • A method and structure is disclosed for isolating the shield of a shielded conductor system from a low frequency power source to which the shield may be connected. In one embodiment, the isolation technique includes providing an interruption in the conductor's shield and situating within the interruption dielectric and magnetically absorptive material so as to create at least a pair of capacitance across the interruption, and such that the capacitances are separated by magnetically absorptive material. In this manner, low frequency isolation is achieved and the field within the cable is shielded from ambient high frequency electromagnetic interference which could otherwise leak through the interruption into a desired high frequency signal path within the conductor. In other embodiments, at least some of the dielectric material forms part of a series resonator to improve attenuation of electromagnetic interference at low VHF frequencies.

    • A coaxial stub tuner assembly is comprised of a short circuit branch diametrically opposite an open circuit branch. The stub of the short circuit branch is tubular, and the stub of the open circuit branch is a rod which extends through the tubular stub into the open circuit branch. The rod is threaded at least at its outer end, and the tubular stub is internally threaded to receive the threads of the rod. The open circuit branch can be easily tuned by turning the threaded rod in the tubular stub to adjust the length of the rod extending into the open circuit branch.
