    • A crop sprayer includes a chassis and a differential assembly secured to the chassis. The crop sprayer also includes a hub assembly having a hub support plate with a wheel hub rotatably secured thereto. The crop sprayer further includes a first telescoping support assembly having a first outer tube and a first inner tube which is positioned within the first outer tube. The first inner tube is movable relative to the first outer tube. The crop sprayer moreover includes a second telescoping support assembly having a second outer tube and a second inner tube which is positioned within the second outer tube. The second inner tube is movable relative to the second outer tube. The crop sprayer yet further includes a telescoping drive shaft assembly. Both the first outer tube and the second outer tube are secured to the chassis. Both the first inner tube and the second inner tube are secured to the hub support plate. A first end of the telescoping drive shaft assembly is secured to an output of the differential assembly, whereas a second end of the telescoping drive shaft assembly is secured to the wheel hub. The telescoping drive shaft assembly is interposed between the first telescoping support assembly and the second telescoping support assembly. A method of operating an adjustable-width axle assembly of a work machine is also disclosed.

    • On an outside of a damper main body, there is provided a case which is movable up and down and which is connected to a damper rod. Between the damper main body and the case, there is formed a pressure chamber which is filled with a pressure medium which changes its state between a gaseous state and a liquid state. A heating chamber to flow therethrough a heating medium which is heated by the heat of the driving source or the like of a vehicle is disposed in a manner to contact a liquid sump portion of the pressure chamber. The pressure medium is heated and evaporated by the heat of the heating medium to thereby increase the internal pressure of the pressure chamber. The case is thus pushed upward and the damper rod is moved up, whereby the vehicle height increases.

    • A hydraulic strut having a damping rate that is variable includes a bypass valve which is operated to open and close by a gas spring supported within the piston of the strut. A main orifice plate divides an oil-filled cavity within the strut into first and second oil chambers, the orifice plate defining a primary orifice for passage of oil between the chambers. The gas spring includes an inner cylinder member affixed to the end wall of the piston, and a diaphragm slidably mounted within the cylinder member, the cylinder member and diaphragm defining a pressurized gas-filled cavity. The diaphragm supports a valve pin which is slidable within a passage in a tubular valve body, the valve body being fixed with respect to the piston, and the passage extending between the first and second oil chambers. Secondary orifices in the valve body communicate with oil in the first oil chamber. The valve pin includes openings which are alignable with the secondary orifices, the openings extending into an axial hole in the valve pin, the axial hole being in communication with the passage in the valve body. Compression of the strut causes compression of the gas spring, which causes movement of the diaphragm so as to move the valve pin within the valve body and thereby bring the openings in the valve pin into alignment with the secondary orifices in the valve body. Oil is thereby allowed to bypass the primary orifice and flow through the bypass valve between the oil chambers.

    • An improved hydraulic suspension unit has a springing force and rebound damping which are related to one another so as to allow certain wheel movements to occour without the resistance of rebound damping. A primary springing force provided by a pressurized gas, a coil spring and elastomer or any combination therof acts directly through the shock fluid via a floating piston, bladder or flexible diaphragm. The primary spring force acts directly through the shock fluid, and thus directly on a rebound damping valve so that the rebound damping valve is only able to dampen the stored energy. The spring provides a maximun in tuning and adjustment capability for varying conditions with easily variable reload and rate. The rebound damping valve can also be adjusted, both to determine the maximum rebound resistance when damping springing energy, and thus maximum shock shaft velocity, and to determine the magnitude of th shaft movements that are allowed to occur without rebound damping. Compression damping can also be adjusted independently of rebound damping, and provides very high flow rates, and a much more desirbale compression damping control. These adjustments can be made external to the suspension unit and require no disassembly. A lightweight vehicle is disclose which utlizes the improved hydraulic suspension unit.

    • The present invention relates to an arrangement for a gas spring (1). This comprises a cylinder (2) with a piston (3) capable of being displaced axially therein, which marks the boundary of an inner space (4) of the cylinder (2) filled with a compressible gas-oil mixture. The space (4) varies in volume in accordance with a force (F) acting upon a piston rod connected to the piston. The invention is characterized in that the inner space is so arranged as to communicate via an openable and closable valve (13) with a closed space (10). The arrangement includes a control device (12) for actuating the valve (13), which control device is so arranged as to close the valve (13) once the piston (3) has moved past a predetermined axial position in the cylinder (2), and as to open it at a predetermined time after the moment of closing.
