    • A process for preparing a fiberglass insulation product, including the steps of: (a) providing a layer of fire-retardant kraft paper, (b) coating the fire-retardant kraft paper layer with from 2 to 10 pounds of HDPE or of polypropylene per 3000 square feet of the paper to form an HDPE-fire-retardant kraft laminate or a polypropylene-fire-retardant kraft laminate, (c) coating the HDPE-fire-retardant kraft or polypropylene-fire-retardant kraft laminate with from 3 to 10 pounds of LDPE per 3000 square feet of the HDPE-fire-retardant kraft laminate or polypropylene-fire-retardant kraft laminate to form an LDPE-HDPE-fire-retardant kraft laminate or an LDPE-polypropylene-fire-retardant kraft laminate, (d) adjusting the temperature of the LDPE-HDPE-fire-retardant kraft laminate or the LDPE-polypropylene-fire-retardant kraft laminate so that the LDPE becomes tacky while the HDPE or polypropylene remains solid, (e) providing a layer of fiberglass wool, and (f) contacting the LDPE layer of the LDPE-HDPE-fire-retardant kraft laminate or of the LDPE-polypropylene-fire-retardant kraft laminate with the fiberglass wool layer with pressure and cooling to bond the LDPE-HDPE-fire-retardant kraft laminate or LDPE-polypropylene-fire-retardant kraft laminate to the fiberglass wool layer to form a fiberglass insulation product.

    • A monolithic surfacing system is capable of being applied to almost any stable, compacted base which is capable of supporting the weight of the system. The system provides an economical solution to the cracking and degradation which is experienced with conventional artificial surfaces which are exposed to the elements or extended wear. The surfacing system includes a bottom layer comprised of a pile fabric having a flexible backing and a plurality of upstanding pile elements. Each of the pile elements has an upper and a lower end. The pile elements are in-filled with a quantity of in-fill material which is sufficient to form a layer of substantially uniform density extending from the flexible backing of the bottom layer to substantially the upper end of the pile elements. A quantity of binder is added to the system, and a top layer comprising a wear coating having an upper and a lower surface is applied to the in-fill material and binder. The binder serves to bind the components of the surfacing system together to create a monolithic structure.

    • The present invention relates to a layered water sealing article of manufacture including a layer of a flexible sheet material adhered to a layer of a composition comprising a non-hydrated water-swellable clay intimately contacted with a polypropene, polybutene, or mixtures thereof particularly useful as a water barrier. The water swellable clay composition can be adhered to the flexible sheet material in any manner, such as by extruding the composition in sheet form onto a layer of sheet material. The clay composition layer is sufficiently tacky to adhere to the sheet material on one major surface, and is sufficiently tacky for adherence to a wall, conduit, floor, roof, or other structure to be protected from water contact, on an exposed major surface in areas of potential water flow to prevent the seepage of water through the bentonite clay composition layer. In one embodiment, the clay composition layer includes a polypropene and/or a polybutene and an elastomer, such as butyl rubber, having sufficient resilience to stretch or expand with the expanding water-swellable clay composition upon hydration and to aid in maintaining the structural integrity and cohesiveness of the clay composition. In another embodiment, the clay composition layer comprises a water-swellable clay, an elastomer, and any plasticizer compatible with the elastomer.
