    • For the drive train of a motor vehicle, a drive train assembly can be used which comprises two operational components which are separate from one another, each of which comprises a motor and a transmission which faces the drive wheel to be driven. The transmission, which can be a spur gear transmission with a driven shaft part oriented eccentrically with respect to the axis of rotation of the motor device, or can be a planetary transmission, is located together with the motor device on a common support part, on which the driven shaft of the motor device and the driven shaft part of the transmission are also mounted. The transmission is coupled to the drive wheel by means of a universal joint propeller shaft. To install the transmission-side joints of the universal joint propeller shafts, even with short universal joint propeller shafts, in the vicinity of the instantaneous center of rotation of the drive wheel, the two components are connected to one another by means of an auxiliary frame and with the bolster of the drive axle system. Merely by adapting the auxiliary frame, which may also be a component of the bolster, the drive train can be adapted to meet the special requirements of the motor vehicle, without having to make extensive modifications to the design of the components. The component can thus be constructed using standardized transmission and motor components.

    • The proposal is for a fluid-cooled power transistor arrangement, the semiconductor component (1) of which is arranged on an especially boardlike insulating substrate (9) via a metal electrode (7). The flat side of the semiconductor component (1) away from the insulating substrate (9) and/or the side of the insulating substrate (9) away from the semiconductor component (9) is in direct heat-exchange contact with a forced flow of cooling fluid in a coolant channel (13). Here, the insulating substrate (1) or the semiconductor component (1) may form wall regions of the coolant channel (13). In order to improve the heat transfer, the wall regions to be cooled and in contact with the cooling fluid may have a surface microstructure which reduces the boundary layer thickness of the coolant flow. The improvement in the cooling action reduces the structural space required so that the electrical valves may be fitted in the immediate vicinity of the electric device to be switched. This is of special advantage in electric motors in order to reduce line inductance. The electric motor and the electric valves are advantageously cooled by the same cooling circuit.

    • A clutch (3) which can be engaged and released by a controllable clutch drive (11) is arranged in the torque transmission path between an engine (1) and a gear transmission (5) of a motor vehicle. By means of a control switch (15) the clutch (3) is released whereby the vehicle can coast free-wheeling, saving fuel, with the engine (1) working in idling rate. On actuation of a brake pedal (15) a control circuit (13) engages the clutch (3) and at the same time shuts off the fuel supply to the engine (1) by means of a fuel valve (23). The engine (1) thus brakes the vehicle without additional fuel consumption. Alternatively the control circuit (13) can have constantly shut off the fuel supply of the engine (1) in free-wheeling operation. Under control of a pressure detector (45) detecting the suction in a servo-brake unit (41) the control circuit (13) engages the clutch (3) when the pressure rises to values which no longer guarantee operation of the brake unit. The engine (1), normally stationary in free-wheeling operation, is rotated with the fuel supply shut off and generates the suction necessary for the working of the brake unit (41). Before the clutch (3) is engaged the control circuit (13) switches on a starter motor (47) which makes the drive-output rotation rate of the engine (1) equal to the rotation rate at the input shaft (25) of the gear transmission (5).
