    • A pouch type secondary battery having enhanced reliability by protecting the battery from external impacts is described. A reinforcement structure may be installed on a pouch casing and an electrode assembly housed in the pouch casing. Short-circuits inside the pouch casing may be minimized. The pouch type secondary battery has an electrode assembly with positive and negative electrode plates with a separator interposed therebetween, and positive and negative terminal portions extending from the positive and negative electrode plates. A first reinforcement member is closely adhered to one or more planes of the electrode assembly. A second reinforcement member may be adhered to the pouch casing and used with or without the first reinforcement member.

    • There is provided a micro power generating device. A compressor impeller and a turbine wheel are coupled to the ends of a rotating shaft. A cooler is provided for lowering a temperature of the compressed air from the compressor impeller. The compressed air is mixed with the fuel and combusted in a combustion chamber. An air foil thrust bearing for supporting the rotating shaft has a thrust collar coupled to the rotating shaft, as well as a pair of thrust discs located apart from the thrust collar and fixed to the housing. Impeller type seals are formed at both surfaces of the thrust collar and impulse turbine blades are formed at the periphery of the thrust collar. A generator is positioned between the air foil thrust bearing and the compressor impeller. A portion of the cool air is bypassed toward the generator and the impulse turbine blades from the cooler.

    • Disclosed are a remote control system for a home appliance network and a method for operating the same. The system includes a wired and wireless Internet network; at least one home server for controlling and managing a home network connected to a plurality of home appliances; and a central portal server for updating an IP (Internet Protocol) address to a varied IP address to manage the home server whenever an IP address allocated to the home server for using the Internet network varies, and for exchanging data with the home server. The system and method enable the central portal server to manage a plurality of home servers and remotely control a plurality of home appliances connected to the home network by allowing the home server to transmit a key message containing a varied IP address so that an existing IP address stored in a database of the central portal server can be updated to a new IP address when a home server using a dynamic IP is connected to the central portal server.

    • A battery has enhanced reliability by protecting the battery from external impacts by separately installing a reinforcement structure on a casing and an electrode assembly housed in the casing. The configuration reduces or minimizes volumetric change in the dimensions due to volumetric expansion of the electrode assembly. The battery may include an electrode assembly having first and second electrode plates with a separator interposed therebetween. First and second terminal portions extending from the first and second electrode plates and a pouch casing having an open portion and for housing the electrode assembly. A pouch cover coupled and sealed with an opening of the pouch casing. The pouch cover having at least one throughhole and at least one electrode pin fastened to the throughhole. The electrode pin is electrically connected to one of the first and second terminal portions of the electrode assembly. The first and second leads are exposed outside the pouch cover and are electrically connected to the first and second terminal portions.
