摘要： A method and mechanism for automatically performing a typewriter function such as backspacing a carriage where the backspace mechanism is actuated upon removal of an insertable and removable ribbon cartridge. Particularly adaptable to correcting typing errors, the present invention will automate the final backspacing operation that is necessary before the correct character is typed and normal typing can be continued. A modified ribbon cartridge containing error correction ribbon carries at least one abutment that engages a backspace coupled actuating mechanism upon removal of the ribbon cartridge. Therefore, automatic backspacing of the typewriter carriage occurs after a modified ribbon cartridge is inserted into the typewriter to perform an error correction operation simply by removing the error correction ribbon cartridge. Although a backspace function has been selected as the most appropriate function for actuation by the modified cartridge, other selected functions may also be actuated by the modified cartridge.

When the movable member is at a first position, a first engageable portion in the head holder and a second engageable portion in the arm are separated. When the movable member is in transition from a first position to a second position, the first engageable portion and the second engageable portion contact each other, and the arm moves in conjunction with the movable member from a third position to a fourth position. A minimum distance between the first engageable portion and the movable member when the arm is at the fourth position is shorter than a minimum distance between those when the first engageable portion and the second engageable portion contact each other while the movable member is in transition from the first position to the second position.

摘要： A ticket-printing device has a ribbon sensor and a mode-switching circuit. The mode-switching circuit automatically selects different printing conditions depending on whether or not the ribbon sensor detects the presence of an ink ribbon. The ink ribbon is wound on a supply spool and take-up spool. When the ink ribbon is replaced, a ribbon fixture holds the supply spool and take-up spool in correct relative positions so that they can be easily slipped onto a supply spool shaft and take-up spool shaft in the ticket-printing device.

摘要： An ink ribbon arrangement for a high speed printer, wherein the printer has a printing device which is movable in a given direction with respect to a recording medium. The ink ribbon comprises a pair of spools, and ribbon guides for guiding the ribbon between these spools in a path such that the ink ribbon extends past the printing device. The spools and the ribbon guides are mounted to form a single unit that is pivotally movable about an axis normal to the direction of relative movement between the printing device and recording medium. The unit may thus be moved to a printing position, wherein the ribbon extends obliquely with respect to the relative direction of movement between the printing device and the recording medium, and to a further position at which it extends substantially parallel to and below a line of text printed on the recording medium, thereby enabling reading of the line of text.
