    • A printing device may include a medium conveying passage along which the printing medium is conveyed; a printing thermal head structured to heat an ink ribbon; a ribbon supplying part; a ribbon winding part; an erasing thermal head disposed between the printing thermal head and the ribbon winding part in a feed direction of the ink ribbon, the erasing thermal head heating the ink ribbon after ink is transferred by the printing thermal head; a transferred roller oppositely disposed to the erasing thermal head and is transferred with ink of the ink ribbon heated by the erasing thermal head; and a roller holding part which holds the transferred roller. The transferred roller may be capable of being attached to and detached from the roller holding part.

    • In a ribbon cassette which is used in a thermal transfer printer of the present invention, a head insertion section, in which a thermal head is inserted to turn its head up and down, is formed between a first ribbon housing section and a second ribbon housing section and further, a relief groove having a predetermined depth, in which a paper feeding mechanism can be positioned, is formed between the head insertion section and the second ribbon housing section. In the relief groove, an ink ribbon to be taken up around a take-up reel is exposed and, in a cassette mounting section, a ribbon guide section is formed to help the ink ribbon to be taken up around the take-up reel in the state where the ink ribbon exposed to the relief groove of the mounted ribbon cassette is bent toward the lower portion of the relief groove.

    • A ribbon mask for use with a impact dot matrix printer is provided. The ribbon mask comprises a head confronting surface and a pair of opposed side plates each positioned on an opposite side of the head confronting surface. An obtuse angle is formed between said head confronting surface each of the opposed side plates. A pair of fitting tabs are also provided. Each fitting tab is positioned on one of the pair of opposed side plates. An acute angle is formed between each of the fitting tabs and a plane parallel to a plane in which the head confronting surface lies. As a result of this construction, when the ribbon mask comes in contact with a sheet of a recording medium, the ribbon mask is deformed so that a portion of the head confronting surface comes into contact with an end of a recording head, which in turn prevents the ribbon mask from interfering with the sheet of the recording medium.

The holder is further provided with hook parts, and the cover has protruding pieces which engage with the hook parts of the holder and thereby move the holder away from the drive roller to detach the follower roller from the drive roller.
