    • A riveting motor tool for use in fastening a pop rivet in which a fastening shank of the rivet having an enlarged end is inserted into a flanged sleeve body and the fastening shank is grasped to be torn off for forming a splayed portion at a free end of the sleeve. The tool grasps the fastening shank and is withdrawn by a slide shaft that is reciprocated by a rotary drive. Springs urge the shaft in the opposite direction. The rotary drive has teeth spaced apart from each other a distance greater than the stroke of the shaft, that engage with a lug on the shaft having arcuate recesses on each side of the lug for reception of the teeth, the rotary drive being reversible to engage the lug from either side. The shaft is hollow and torn off portions of the shank move lengthwise through the shaft out the rear end of the shaft which is disposed in a receptacle for receiving and retaining these torn off portions.

    • A light weight heavy duty blind rivet setting tool having one piece upper housing containing a rivet setting mechanism and a one piece lower pressure vessel having an air activated piston operable to pressurize a medium in the upper housing to activate the rivet setting mechanism. The upper housing has a handle area containing a trigger which, through a trigger linkage, operates a valve on the bottom of the pressure vessel which is connectable to an air source. A muffler is positioned adjacent the valve to receive the exhausted air from the pressure vessel after the tool has been operated, to minimize the noise level of the tool operation. The trigger linkage is adjustable to eliminate the tolerance stack-up in the linkage.

    • A puncher-riveter has a fixed lower part having an upper surface and a vertically displaceable upper part above the lower part and having a lower surface. A hydraulic motor vertically displaces the upper part toward and away from the lower part. A punch having a lower punch end is vertically displaceable on the upper part between an upper rest position with the lower end above the lower surface of the upper part and a lower working position with the lower end below this lower surface. A die is provided on the lower part in vertical alignment with the punch so that the lower punch end can engage in the die when the punch is in the lower working position and the upper part is displaced down toward the lower part. A rivet anvil and an embossing tool are provided on the lower surface of the upper part adjacent the punch and a rivet-setting tool has an upper tool end and is vertically displaceable on the lower part between an upper working position with its upper end above the upper surface and a lower rest position with the upper tool end below the upper surface. Thus it is possible with the same machine, simply by switching the punch and rivet-setting tool, to punch and rivet together workpieces in subsequent operations.
