    • Various embodiments include a thermal protector, including the rear end of a movable plate fixed to one end of a resin base and a pair of terminals for connection with an external circuit fixed to the other end thereof. Fixed contacts are formed on the fixed portions of the terminals, and the movable contact of the movable plate is disposed opposed to the fixed contacts. A bimetal element engaged with the center of the movable plate is set to project upward at normal temperature, thus bringing the movable contact into pressure contact with the fixed contacts with prescribed contact pressure. The bimetal element consists of an inversion area wherein the inversion area has no portion overlapping the conduction path area of load current.

    • A movable plate 8 is partitioned by a slim hole 23 into a narrow-width part 21 and a wide-width part 22. When a contact is closed as a thermal switch 10, the narrow-width part 21 produces heat with an applied current branched via a first terminal 3 and a second terminal 4, which short-circuits both ends of the current limit resistor, and the heat of a bimetal 9 is retained with a small amount of local heat to self-hold the non-restoration state, so that the current limit resistor is quickly cooled down. When the power supply switch is turned off, the heat produced by the narrow-width part 21 is quickly cooled down to restore the thermal switch 10 in a short time. Also when the power supply is again turned on in a short time, the current limit resistor is made to function efficiently.

    • A mounting fixture for fast installation of switch connectors is provided. The mounting fixture is encased in a molded housing with a plurality of dividers separating an interior of the housing into a plurality of compartments. An elongated pin is adjacent to one end wall of the housing for receiving the metal pin of the connector and an elongated anchor slot is adjacent to another end wall for anchoring a metal inlay in each compartment. Each metal inlay is formed with two orthogonal planes, an anchor plate and a resilient plate. The resilient plate has a notch on the far edge, such that when the copper wires of the electric cable are inserted into the mounting fixture through the wire hole, the notch will be able to clamp on the inserted wires by the counter force from the resilient plate.

    • A fluorescent lamp thermal fuse arrangement is disclosed. The arrangement in a preferred embodiment comprises a fluorescent glass tube lamp, a thermal fuse wrapped externally around an end of the lamp, electrically insulated mechanical means, lead portions of the thermal fuse and strain relief, and a thermally and electrically insulating protective cover placed over the thermal fuse to concentrate heat around the fuse and to electrically isolate the lamp end from the surrounding environment. The lamp has a maximum normal operating temperature, a coating of emissive material on a cathode of the lamp, a plurality of lamp cathode leads, and a termination electrically connected to a fluorescent lamp power source. The thermal fuse is electrically connected in series between at least one lamp cathode lead and the termination. The protective cover provides electrical insulation to the surrounding environment and a small space for melted fuse material to flow regardless of lamp orientation. A strain relief is preferably provided at a point of exit of the termination from the protective cover. In operation, when the temperature of the lamp end rises above the maximum normal operating temperature of the lamp, the fuse material melts and breaks the electrical circuit to the lamp.
