    • An arrangement for loading manageable material into containers or moulds with the aid of a mechanical shovel, and in particular to filling large sacks (10) intended for transporting or storing the matrial. The arrangement includes a mechanical shovel or scoop (5) which can be attached to a shovel loader in a conventional manner and which has an open side through which the shovel can be filled with material. The shovel defining wall located opposite the open side of the shovel when the open side thereof faces upwards is at least partially funnel-shaped (8). The passageway (9) through the funnel-shaped part is provided with a closure throttle (12) and the funnel-shaped part (8) is intended to co-act with the filling opening of the container (10) in a manner to enable a desired quantity of material to be transfered from the shovel to the container.

    • A method and apparatus for sealing a filled, flanged carton tray with a flat lid. The tray is advanced into a sealing machine while resting on a conveyor (3) and at random spacing between trays. At a predetermined position the tray has a lid (2) placed on it, the lid (2) engaging against a stop curtain (4) and awaiting the tray (1), this being the lid (2) which is to be sealed against the flanges of the tray. The tray with the lid on it is then advanced by rollers (5-8) into a first microwave applicator (11), which includes longitudinal rails (12, 13) with a C-shaped cross section, for sealing a pair of opposing lid edge portions against respective flanges of the tray (1), subsequent to which, compression or sealing rollers (14-17) situated in the advancing direction of the conveyor press against the lid (2), which was sealed immediately previously, and before the tray (1) is turned 90.degree. horizontally for sealing in a second microwave applicator (19) the remaining, opposing parts of the lid (2) against the respective flanges on the tray (1).

    • A blank for forming a wrap-around carton is delivered to a moving support carriage which is moved to a station where the moving carriage receives a predetermined number of articles to be packaged. The carriage, with the articles resting on the bottom portion of the blank, is moved downstream while cams actuate tucker fingers which pivot up to fold the tuck flaps of the blank toward each other, causing the end and side panels to be elevated. Another cam actuates a pusher bar which pivots up to push the articles. The carton blank and the articles are thus positively moved through subsequent flap folding and gluing stations, avoiding the problems which can arise due to the use of separate means for moving the articles and the carton blank. A cam operated hinged plate is used to segregate the leading articles at the entry to the machine.

    • The cable tie tool has a variable trigger linkage which is supported within a tool handle by a connection thereto. The trigger linkage is coupled to a lever and movable between open and closed positions such that moving the trigger linkage from the open to closed positions causes the lever to pivot from neutral to tensioned positions. The trigger linkage engages the lever alternatively at near or distant positions thereon to couple the trigger linkage to the lever such that, when a uniform force is applied to the trigger linkage for movement thereof from the open to closed positions, the engagement at the distant position results in the force applied to the tool head by the lever being greater than the force applied to the tool head by the lever which results from the engagement at the near position.
