    • A rear suspension system for a land vehicle comprising a single generally centrally mounted structure in a middle portion of the rear suspension system. The suspension system comprises a pair of inclined primary suspension means, and a pair of inclined primary oscillating arms for pivotally connected to a pair of laterally spaced longitudinal slides at an underside area of the chassis of the land vehicle. Each of the primary oscillating arms comprise a distal end, which are further coupled to a horizontal bar adjacent a distal end of the primary suspension means, such as a shock absorber, and a proximal end which are individually mounted a horizontal bar adjacent a front end of the primary suspension means at an underside portion of the chassis. The suspension system further comprises a Weight Transfer Dynamic Compensator for raising a front tip portion of the longitudinal slides each time there is a transfer of weight in the vehicle. The Weight Transfer Dynamic Compensator is beneficial during acceleration and cornering of the vehicle by allowing the front end of the vehicle to remain close to the ground, thereby providing improved traction and control of the vehicle.

    • A suspension system mountable to the chassis of a snowmobile and about which an endless track is carried. The suspension includes a slide frame for engagement with a lower portion of the endless track and one or more springs for urging the slide frame downwardly away from the chassis. The suspension system also includes a downwardly angled suspension arm having an upper end pivotally mounted to the snowmobile chassis. The lower end of the arm is pivotally connected to the slide frame so as to permit limited longitudinal movement of the lower end of the arm with reset to the slide frame. An adjustable limit is provided for adjustably limiting the degree of longitudinal movement of the lower end of the arm with respect to the slide frame to adjustably control the range of orientations of the slide frame with respect to the snowmobile chassis.

    • In a snowmobile track suspension the slide frame that contacts the ground-engaging run of the track belt is carried on front and rear suspension arm assemblies. The front suspension arm assembly is pivoted to the vehicle on the axis of the sprocket drive shaft. The rear suspension arm assembly is articulated, having upper and lower sections that are rearwardly angled and pivotally interconnected and support in the region of the pivotal interconnection the idler wheel that maintains the track under tension. The arrangement eliminates stretching of the track and lengthens the track life. Furthermore the rearwardly angled arrangement of the rear suspension arm assembly allows easier backward motion of the snowmobile because the lower arm section provides an angle of attack to help the track rise above an obstacle.

    • The invention provides an improvement in an assembly comprising a frame for a motor vehicle, a pair of unsteered wheels disposed on opposite sides of the frame, and a spring suspension comprising a respective longitudinal control arm connected to each one of the wheels for constraining the wheel, each control arm having a hub, a respective bearing sleeve having one end secured to the frame and associated with a respective one of the control arms, the control arm hub being rotatably mounted in the associated bearing sleeve, the bearing sleeves having inner ends facing each other, a respective torsion bar associated with each wheel control arm for urging the control arm to a predetermined angular position about the axis of the associated bearing sleeve, the torsion bars having axes extending parallel to each other transversely to the direction of travel and the torsion bars being arranged one behind the other in this direction, and a respective anchor secured to the frame against rotation about the axis of an associated one of the torsion bars, one end of each torsion bar being fixed to the hub of the associated control arm and the other torsion bar end being fixed to the associated anchor. In the improvement, the anchors are concentrically mounted on the facing inner ends of the associated bearing sleeves and each anchor is a casting having a sprue eccentric with respect to the axis of the associated bearing sleeve, the other torsion bar ends being fixed in the eccentric sprues whereby the fixed other end of one torsion bar is offset from the fixed one end of the other torsion bar.
