    • The invention relates to a method for sterilising products, especially found products and the raw materials, auxiliary products and semi-finished products thereof, in additions to raw materials, adjuvants and Intermediaries for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. The products which are separated by sorting are placed, in product-dependent layer thicknesses. In a process container (3), after being possibly separated and/or sieved. The process container (3) guarantees identical treatment conditions for the entire product load, with the aim of achieving homogeneous product quality. The process container is introduced into a pressure chamber (7) in which the actual sterilisation process is controlled by a programme and runs homogeneously. The process container is removed from the pressure chamber (7), the product is then removed from the precess container, before or after being cooled to a pre-determined temperature, and is optionally brought back to its original form by means of a mechanical aftertreatment before being placed in the delivery container and/or being further processed. The invention thus enables the surface of products, especially natural dry products, to be sterilised and disinfected in an homogeneous and reproducible manner without causing any unwanted change in the sensory, physiological and chemical product properties.

    • In a spray drying device with a drying chamber and at the bottom thereof a fluidized bed, which is maintained on a perforated plated, the fluidized layer is divided by means of separation means into two zones, of which only one is supplied with particles from the spray drying chamber, whereas the second zone is substantially supplied with particles only from the first zone and is designed for treatment of the particles while they pass through the zone in a flow without substantial back mixing. The device makes it possible to manufacture a product which without after-treatment, is substantially dustless and has the desired particle size distribution, degree of dampness and surface treatment. Furthermore, an improved exploitation of energy is achieved.

    • A process for dehydrating food products particularly suited to the dehydration of potatoes for use in the preparation of hashbrown potatoes, and the product of said process. In accordance with the process of the invention, a food product is prepared into separate pieces for drying. The separate pieces are then coated with a dry mixture which includes a separation particulate which maintains separation between adjacent pieces such that the pieces may be more efficiently and effectively hot air dried. The dry mixture may also include ingredients which react with moisture on the food product surface to form the adhesive surface for adhering the dry mixture to the food product. For the preparation of hashbrown potatoes, the dry mixture may include spices, browning ingredients, and patty-binding ingredients. For the preparation of casserole potato dishes, the dry mixture may include spices, dehydrated vegetables and cheeses, and a thickening agent.
