摘要： A method is followed to prepare a powder that includes carbon, silicon and boron, the silicon being in silicon carbide form and the boron being in boron carbide and/or free boron form. The method includes contacting a carbon-based precursor, a silicon-based precursor and a boron-based precursor BX3, X being a halogen atom, to obtain a mixture of these three precursors. The resulting mixture is subjected to laser pyrolysis. The boron-based precursor BX3 is heated, prior to the contacting step and/or simultaneously with the contacting step, to a temperature higher than the condensation temperature of the precursor.

摘要： A method for generating nanoparticles in a liquid comprises generating groups of ultrafast laser pulses, each pulse in a group having a pulse duration of from 10 femtoseconds to 200 picoseconds, and each group containing a plurality of pulses with a pulse separation of 1 to 100 nanoseconds and directing the groups of pulses at a target material in a liquid to ablate it. The multiple pulse group ablation produces nanoparticles with a reduced average size, a narrow size distribution, and improved production efficiency compared to prior pulsed ablation systems.

Microparticles are contacted with a non-aqueous washing system to reduce the level of residual solvent in the microparticles. Preferred non-aqueous washing systems include 100% ethanol and a blend of ethanol and heptane. A solvent blend of a hardening solvent and a washing solvent can be used to harden and wash microparticles in a single step, thereby eliminating the need for a post-hardening wash step.

摘要： The present disclosure provides a system and method to dissociate water molecules into H2 and O2 and includes a reaction vessel having at least one radiolysis apparatus, at least one photolysis apparatus, at least one catalyst apparatus, and at least one electromagnetic fielding apparatus. The reaction vessel has a body, a first end and a second end defining an interior reaction chamber, an inlet for receiving water vapor and at least two outlets. A plurality of windings of a contiguous electrical conductor are wound in a first direction adjacent the first outlet and plurality of windings of a contiguous electrical conductor wound in a second direction adjacent the second outlet such that the first direction is opposite the second direction. When a current is applied to the conductor, an electromagnetic field is generated to migrate the disassociated H2 and O2 molecules toward the respective first outlet or second outlet.
