    • An automatic strainer assembly for straining a slurry comprises an inlet for receiving the slurry, a horizontally disposed strainer body in fluid communication with the inlet, and a rotatable strainer member received within the body having an inner surface and an outer surface. One or more scrapers are positioned for removing material from the outer surface of the strainer assembly. A collection vessel is positioned substantially below the body for receiving material scraped from the outer surface of the strainer member. A transport member can be provided for returning the scraped material to the slurry supply for reprocessing thereof. An outlet expels the strained slurry. A manual or automatic washdown system is provided for removing the slurry from the strainer member. A radial bearing assembly and radial seal are associated with the drive shaft of the strainer member to prevent galling. A method for processing a slurry is provided.

    • A filter device for the clarification of contaminated liquids includes a vessel configured to contain the liquid to be clarified. A first carrying disk is arranged within the vessel and is rotationally driven about a rotational axis. Mounting rods are attached to and extend generally perpendicular from the carrying disk. A plurality of filter modules including spaced apart filter elements extend generally parallel to the carrying disk. Each of the filter modules is rotationally fixed relative to the carrying disk at least in part by the mounting rods. The filter modules have a radially inward end spaced radially from the rotational axis of the carrying disk. The ends of the filter modules circumscribe a cavity within the vessel having a longitudinal axis corresponding to the rotational axis of the carrying disk. The cavity is configured such that a cleaning fluid medium from within the cavity flows radially out from said cavity and between the filter elements to clean the filter elements.

    • The present invention includes a filtration apparatus for an injection molding machine where the injection molding machine includes a screw housed within a bore for generating molten polymer. A tip member extends axially from the screw. The tip member has radially extending upstream and downstream flanges positioned axially apart from each other. A filter encircles the tip member and is capable of filtering the molten polymer. An annular ring member encircles the tip member and is slidably positioned within the bore between the upstream and downstream flanges. The ring member is capable of sliding between the flanges for directing the molten polymer through the filter or preventing back flow of the molten polymer past the upstream flange. An end stop is positioned within the bore and is capable of engaging and preventing movement of the ring member past the end stop while allowing the downstream flange of the tip member to be translated forwardly therepast to simultaneously space the upstream and downstream flanges apart from the ring member. This allows the molten polymer to bypass the filter for purging contaminants filtered from the molten polymer.

    • An open frame rotary cylindrical filter construction is disclosed in which the rotary element is formed from a plurality of individual concave filter sectors mounted radially about a central hub. Each sector includes an elongated cone shaped basket or cup having an open mouth at its outer or base end and a restricted outlet opening inwardly from its apex. A flange is formed about the mouth of the sector and the sectors are held in place by tie rods extending radially from the hub to engage the flanges to pull the sectors toward the hub. The apex of each sector is pulled into sealing relationship with a drainage conduit leading to a filter valve at one end of the structure. The flanges of adjacent sectors combine to form a cylindrical structure supported by the tie rods and drainage conduits. Usual trunnions are provided at each end for journalling the structure for rotation.
