    • The present invention provides a device for collecting information from face and the tongue for Chinese medicine, which includes a tank, a light source and a shooting structure. The light source and the shooting structure are positioned inside the tank, the shooting structure contains a guide column, a lifting component, a shooting component and an electrical component. The guide column and the electrical component are fixed in the tank, the shooting component fixed on the lifting component, the lifting component fixed on the guide column, which can achieve adjustment of the relative to the guide column by the electrical component. The present invention also provides a method for collecting information collection from face and tongue for Chinese medicine, which includes: 1. collect the information of the face with the camera lens perpendicular to the face plane; 2. tilt forward the camera's position while raising to the vertical plane with the tongue, collect the further information of the tongue. The present invention can solve the disadvantage in the existing technology that the information collection from the tongue and face can not be achieved at the same time, and collecting process done automatically by the electric machine control, easy to operate.

    • A system and a method for automatically generating new concepts based on existing ontologies are provided. The system creates new concepts in existing ontologies based on new concept descriptions expressed in a natural language format, and comprises: a normalizer for receiving and parsing the new concept descriptions so as to transform them into normalized one and output them, wherein said normalized concept description includes one or more description part(s) having kernel concepts, said description parts can only contain the terms which can be identified in said existing ontologies, and each of said kernel concept contains a headword and zero or more property(s); and a new concept factory for, based on the normalized description of the new concept, identifying the kernel concepts in each normalized concept description part, and extracting the identified kernel concepts, related properties, and the relations among the kernel concepts for a user to create new concepts according to existing ontologies. Therefore, ontologies will be easier to be managed, reused and expanded, while keeping smaller size and less complexity of the ontologies.

    • A method and device for optimizing queries over a vertically stored database. Items in the database are partitioned into several partitions each having a partition signature. The method includes decomposing a first query received from a user into multiple first subqueries; generating a signature for each first subquery in a way corresponding to the way of generating the partition signature; comparing the signature of each first subquery with partition signatures of all partitions respectively to obtain all partitions matching the first subquery; rewriting a second subquery translated from the first subquery based on the matching partitions to obtain a rewritten second subquery; and composing rewritten second subqueries for all first subqueries to form a second query so that queries are executed over the database using the second query.
