    • The present invention relates to thermally cross-linkable coating compositions which are liquid and stable in storage at room temperature and which contain combinations of dialkyl-malonate-blocked polyisocyanates and organic polyhydroxyl compounds as binders and, optionally, auxiliaries and additives, being characterized in that the binder comprises:(a) a polyisocyanate component containing dialkyl-malonate-blocked isocyanate groups and a content of blocked isocyanate groups, expressed as NCO, based on the weight of the polyisocyanate component excluding the weight of the blocking agent, of from about 3 to 33.6% by weight, comprising(aa) at least one dialkyl-malonate-blocked, optionally alkyl-substituted diisocyanato-diphenyl methane and/or(ab) at least one dialkyl-malonate-blocked NCO-prepolymer based on excess quantities of optionally alkyl-substituted diisocyanatodiphenyl methane and organic compounds containing at least two hydroxyl groups and(b) a polyol component having an average hydroxyl functionality of greater than 2 and a content of alcoholic hydroxyl groups of from about 1.5 to 8% by weight, comprising at least one polyester polyol in quantities corresponding to an equivalent ratio of blocked isocyanate groups to hydroxyl groups of from about 0.6:1 to 2:1.The present invention also relates to a process for the production of coatings by coating heat-resistant substrates of any type with these coating compositions and subsequently hardening the coating at about 90.degree. to 220.degree. C.

    • A process is described for the preparation of predominantly linear polyurethane solutions which comprises(a) reacting(A) an organic diisocyanate or diisocyanate mixture optionally containing small portions of a triisocyanate with(B) one or more polyhydroxyl compounds which are predominantly bifunctional and generally have molecular weights of from about 400 to 5000 and(C) optionally one or more chain lengthening agents having at least two isocyanate reactive hydrogen atoms and molecular weights of from about 32 to 399, wherein the proportion of isocyanate groups to the number of isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms is in the range of from about 0.9:1 to 1:0.9, and(b) when the polyurethane formed has reached the required viscosity, adding a monofunctional, low molecular weight oxime having a molecular weight of from about 73 to 325, preferably butanone oxime, to the reaction mixture as chain breaking agent in a quantity equivalent to or in excess of the equivalents of unreacted isocyanate groups.The new chain breaking agents are simple compounds which effect rapid chain breaking and have no undesirable side effects as regards subsequent breakdown of the chains and even enable further synthesizing reactions to be carried out if desired, for example with diamines.

    • This invention relates to the coating of sheet-form textile materials by the reverse process using polyurethanes which, for ecological and economic reasons, are dissolved in a single organic solvent.Segmented, substantially linear polyurethanes of dihydroxy polyesters and/or dihydroxy polyethers, aromatic and/or aliphatic diisocyanates and glycols and/or diamines as chain extenders, are used as surface and adhesive coatings in the form of solutions containing only a single organic solvent. To control coating properties, solutions used for adhesive coatings contain from 1 to 15% by weight based on the weight of the solution of water in addition to the organic solvent.
