    • A data storage system and method are disclosed. The data storage system includes a first and a second memory and a memory control unit. The first memory is non-volatile, and the second memory is designed to store dynamic information of the first memory. The memory control unit includes a snapshot module, a recording module and a power-off recovery module, and is operative to handle the data loss of the second memory when an unexpected power-off occurs. When the power of the system is recovered, an initial address stored in the first memory by the snapshot module and link information and updating information recorded in the first memory by the recording module are obtained by the power-off recovery module to recovery the second memory.

    • A data storage system and method are disclosed. The data storage system includes a first memory, a controller, a counting module, and a checking and correcting module. Copyback operations are performed in the first memory. The controller couples the first memory to the counting module and the checking and correcting module. The counting module provides a counting operation for the copyback operations at different logic addresses of the first memory and, according to a counting result of the counting operation, determines whether a checking and correcting requirement has been satisfied by any of the logic addresses. The checking and correcting module receives data read out from the first memory, wherein the received data corresponds to a satisfying logic address, and checks, or checks and corrects the received data to correct the first memory accordingly.

    • A computer addressing mode and memory access method rely on a memory segment identifier and a memory segment mask for indicating memory locations. In this addressing mode, a processor receives an instruction comprising the memory segment identifier and memory segment mask. The processor employs a two-level address decoding scheme to access individual memory locations. Under this decoding scheme, the processor decodes the memory segment identifier to select a particular memory segment. Each memory segment includes a predefined number of memory locations. The processor selects memory locations within the memory segment based on mask bits set in the memory segment mask. The disclosed addressing mode is advantageous because it allows non-consecutive memory locations to be efficiently accessed.

Effectiveness of the method of the invention had been verified by cell proliferation verification experiments.
