摘要： The modular front end forms the front portion of a motor vehicle. The modular front end includes a bulkhead defining a plurality of integrally formed attachment mounts. A drive train assembly carrying at least an engine of the motor vehicle is attached to the bulkhead at the attachment mounts. A crash energy absorption assembly is attached to the attachment mounts on the bulkhead and generally extends around the drive train assembly. An apron assembly is attached to the bulkhead at the attachment mounts and is generally positioned above the drive train assembly and crash energy absorption assembly.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for the production of a side wall module for the bodywork of a motor vehicle, having a panel which leaves open a side wall part. In this case, a side wall structure, which extends to the rear in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle at least from an A-pillar as far as a rear wheel mounting and comprises an inner part and a wall part integrally reinforcing the side wall module, is joined in the transverse direction of the vehicle to a side wall panel which has previously been deep drawn from a blank and cut, with window openings and at least one door opening being formed. The wall part is fastened on the outside of the inner part of the side wall structure. In order to make it possible for a side wall module with a panel leaving open a side wall part to be produced reliably, it is proposed that the blank is cut in such a manner that at least one stiffening sheet-metal section which partially covers the opening remains in the window openings and/or the door openings of the panel, that after a process of clamping the panel the latter is joined to the side wall structure, and that, finally, the respective stiffening sheet-metal section is severed.

A unitary, one-piece inner panel and a unitary, one-piece outer panel cooperate to define the hood portion and the two fender portions. The inner panel and the outer panel comprise a substantial portion of a vehicle body front end, replacing the multitude of inner panels, outer panels, and reinforcements in a prior art vehicle body. The body panel preferably functions as a load-bearing vehicle frame portion, reducing or eliminating prior art vehicle frame components. A method of manufacturing the body panel includes forming an inner panel and an outer panel using superplastic forming, quick plastic forming, or sheet hydroforming, and connecting the inner panel and the outer panel.

摘要： A modular vehicle includes a plurality of modular members arranged on a base. The modular members collectively approximate the contour of a vehicle interior or exterior. The modular members are arranged on the base in a close fitting, removable fashion. Each of the modular members has a contoured surface which closely approximates a corresponding portion of a contour of a vehicle interior or exterior. The model vehicle can be reconfigured by simply removing the modular members affected by a design change, reconfiguring the removed modular members and replacing the removed modular members. In another feature, the model vehicle assembly includes a plurality of floor section modular members, wherein one of these floor modular members has a hole defining a reference point. A digitizer which measures the contour of the interior is mounted in the hole. A method of assembling a model for a vehicle is also disclosed.
