摘要： A method or technique of preparing or producing distinctive decorative graphic materials. The method utilizes commercially available transfer print foils which are in the form of a thin film including a thin lamination of metallic material which provides the coloration which can transfer to the product. The areas to which coloration is to be applied are delineated such as by embossing paper or other materials or by drawing or printing the areas. Adhesive is then applied to the delineated areas to which coloration is to be applied, and the adhesive is allowed to dry sufficiently to become tacky. A strip of the transfer print foil is then laid over the delineated areas to which adhesive has been applied and is pressed down manually. The strip is then lifted and the coloration provided by the colored metallic lamination releases and transfers to the delineated areas and is held by the adhesive. Iridescence is produced by applying one color over another.

摘要： A method of manufacturing finished articles of flexible plastic material includes formation of a sheet of plastic material with a first portion having a raised pattern on one surface thereof and at least partially curing the sheet. The first portion having the raised pattern is removed from the sheet and a second portion of plastic material having a raised pattern on one surface and of a color contrasting with that of the first portion is formed in that area of the sheet from which the first portion was removed. A plastic backing layer is formed on the sheet and the article thus formed is cured. The backing layer may be of a color contrasting with that of the second portion of plastic material, or the first portion may be allowed to remain and its back surface may be coated with a layer of plastic of a color contrasting with that of the first portion after which the backing layer is applied.

摘要： Apparatus for heat transfer labelling of articles using a resilient pad maintained at elevated temperatures. Decorative laminates affixed to a support member such as a web are fed to a heated platen. A resilient pad consisting of a silicone elastomer is pressed against the laminate at the heated platen, whereby the laminate adheres to the pad when it retracts from the platen. The heated pad is then pressed against an article to be labelled, to which the transfer substrate adheres in preference to the pad surface. The resilient pad is typically heated to a temperature above ambient temperature but lower than that of the heated platen. The pad is heated by repetitive contact with the platen, and additionally by an independent heater. The pad may include one or more interior heating elements, or an exterior radiant heater located adjacent the pad during periods between label transfers. This apparatus is well suited to the labelling of articles of a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and materials.
