    • A hydraulically operated percussion apparatus comprising a housing in which a reciprocating impact piston is arranged to transfer impact energy to an impact tool, pressure chambers defined between said housing and said piston, and a channel system including a high pressure and a low pressure branch for conducting hydraulic pressure fluid to and from the pressure chambers, a first one of said chambers containing a movable distribution valve member responsive to the movements of the piston for alternately connecting said first chamber to said high pressure branch and said low pressure branch, respectively, characterized in that said valve member is arranged to be transported by the piston when moving in one direction, and responsive to the movement of the piston in the other direction to be acted upon by the pressure fluid to move in said other direction by means of hydrostatic pressure, said valve member having a longer path of movement than the impact piston and being arranged, at its movement in said one direction, and by virtue of its kinetic energy, to continue its movement and open said first pressure chamber towards said high pressure branch and close it towards said low pressure branch, when the piston hits said tool.

    • A plunger pump or plunger motor includes a block accommodating a first cylindrical chamber and a plunger movable in this chamber and a drive shaft connected to this plunger, as well as a second cylindrical chamber and a control valve movable in this second cylindrical chamber. Holes O3 and O4 can alternately be brought into communication with the connection for the delivery pipe by the plunger and with a connecting hole for a pressure line. The control valve can establish a communication between the hole O2 and the connecting hole. The drive shaft is connected to a further plunger which is movable in a third cylindrical chamber in which there is a suction hole or delivery hole. The control valve can alternately establish a communication between the suction hole or delivery hole with a connecting hole for a suction pipe and the connecting hole for the pressure line.

    • A hydraulic engine employs dual cylinders and pistons of different diameter connected end-to-end in collinear alignment. Fluid from a pressurized source drives the large piston to transmit power to a crankshaft. An electromagnetic actuator, controlled by a distributor, opens a control valve, admitting fluid to the large cylinder. A hydraulic actuator closes the control valve, shutting off fluid flow. The hydraulic actuator responds to pressure drop when the large piston uncovers an exhaust port. Fluid drains to a tank, and the cycle repeats. The small piston recirculates fluid from the tank to the source.

    • Motor apparatus which converts hydraulic energy and change of state heat energy to mechanical energy. The motor includes a main chamber divided by a piston into first and second portions. During a first half cycle or hydraulic power stroke, a valve places the first portion of the chamber in fluid communication with a source of pressurized, saturated liquid and the second portion of the chamber in fluid communication with a drain port. A switch senses the end of the hydraulic power stroke and causes the valve to move to a second position wherein the first and second portions of the chamber are placed in fluid communication with one another to form a common motor chamber and drive the piston in an expansion power stroke. Power is derived from the working fluid during the piston stroke in each direction. The motor finds particular application for energy recovery in an absorption refrigeration system.
