    • An ammunition magazine with a feeding device in the form of two pivotal arms for a weapon which is laterally adjustable and adjustable as to height. The magazine comprises two sections symmetrically connected to the weapon from which the feeding device grasps ammunition and moves the same to a charging position in which the ammunition is aligned with the bore of the barrel. Each of the two magazine sections has associated therewith one of the two pivotal arms which by power-operable means are so actuated that while either one moves ammunition from one ammunition magazine section into alignment with the barrel, the respective other pivotal arm moves to the respective pertaining magazine section for picking up ammunition.

    • A reactor for carrying out catalytic reactions with solid bed catalysts comprises a reaction vessel and a cooler. The reaction vessel comprises a reaction part included space tube plates with contact tubes mounted between the plates and seated in the plates so that they are exposed on the exterior of said plates to a gas inlet chamber on one end and a gas outlet chamber on the opposite end. The cooler comprises a drum body with a water space and a steam space and it includes cooling tubes mounted therein which are connected for circulation of a cooling liquid from the cooler to the reactor and for the return thereof for re-cooling. The reaction vessel and the cooler are connected by piping which permits their separation from each other. The reaction vessel includes at least one tubing unit having an inlet and an outlet and with a distributor connected to the respective inlet and outlet, which has a horizontal passage flow for the heat exchange fluid which enters and leaves the reactor. The reactor includes baffling means for permitting back and forth flow of the coolant over the exteriors of the tubes in the reactor from the inlet to the outlet. In one form of reactor construction, the reactor vessel includes an intermediate cylindrical wall which is connected between the tube sheets and which includes an annular flow passage defined over the respective inlet and outlet openings. The outer cylindrical jacket itself may be formed with an outwardly extending upper and lower portion to define the annular flow spaces for the inlet and outlet of the coolant. Similar constructions may be used for more than one tube unit. An alternate inlet arrangement and outlet arrangement is a construction in which a conduit for the inflow of the coolant extends downwardly from the end of the vessel directly through the adjacent tube sheet into the coolant flow area between the tube sheets and around the tubes. Similarly, the outlet connection extends from the lower portion of the space surrounding the tubes between the tube sheets outwardly through the lowermost tube sheet and then horizontally through the gas chamber at the lower end of the vessel.

    • A reactor for catalytic gas phase oxidation includes a tube bundle of contact tubes extending between and having their respective ends seated in tube sheets in a vessel in which a reaction gas is passed through the tubes and a heat carrier is circulated around the exterior of the tubes. Each contact tube is filled with catalyst particles of relatively small size, and holding means are arranged in each tube end in order to hold the particles therein. The holding means comprise a layer or skein of wire gauze arranged adjacent each end and held in position by a clamping ring which may be formed as a spring ring which is engaged against the walls of the tube or a ring which engages in an annular notch of the tube. In some instances, the holding means are arranged in only one end of the tube, for example the bottom end.

    • A shield roof support has a sole plate, at least one roof or heel plate and a hydraulic element supporting the roof plate from the sole plate. The hydraulic supporting element includes a piston-cylinder actuator mounted inside the sole plate and extending along the longitudinal axis thereof, the movable element of the actuator being connected to one arm of an angle lever pivoted on a horizontal axis on the sole plate and having its other arm pivotally connected to the roof plate, the angle between the two arms of the lever preferably being adjustable. The lever transforms the force-action line of the actuator from the horizontal direction to the vertical direction. Thrust means on the longer arm of the lever are pivotally connected to the roof plate at a fulcrum, and a locking actuator is interconnected between the roof plate and the longer arm of the lever. A second piston-cylinder actuator extending longitudinally of the sole plate is operable to advance the sole plate relative to the working face of a mining operation, for example.

A riser head is engageble in the hull opening and it may be coupled to the hull. The riser head includes a float portion with a ballast tank and it has a vertically extending riser tube opening therethrough for accommodating a riser tube and for holding it in position relative to the tower. The riser head is detachable from the carrier ship and may be ballasted to float at a level below the ship out of the turbulence area of foul weather whenever foul weather occurs.

    • A device for sealing a roof of an excavation, such as a mine shaft, including a wide surface support member or cave-in shield, which is adapted to be supported in the excavation at an angle to the roof. An open top wide surface roof cap structure is pivoted to the upper end of the support member and it comprises a plurality of nested substantially U-shape members having widely spaced apart legs which are pivoted to the upper end of the support member and which extend downwardly in the form of a shutter or bellows to the support member. The widest one of the U-shape members is formed as an extension of the horizontal portion and the intermediate ones are disposed at separate respective angles closing the space between the cap and the support member.
