The bonded composite has first and second thin-section elements bonded to each other, at least in part by bond elements and at least in part by adherent material. The adherent material is disposed between the first and second thin-section elements proximate and about the bond elements. The adherent material, at least in part, bonds the thin-section elements to each other at loci of the adherent material. The bond patterns are arranged and configured to preferentially direct stresses imposed on the bond pattern, inwardly into the interior of the bond pattern for distribution, dissipation, and termination.

摘要： A pant-like, disposable absorbent article includes an absorbent chassis, a pair of opposed side panels, at least one line of weakness and at least one fastener. The absorbent chassis defines a pair of laterally opposed side edges and a pair of longitudinally opposed waist edges. The side panels extend between the side edges of the absorbent chassis to define a waist opening and a pair of leg openings in the pant-like disposable absorbent article. Each of the opposed side panels defines a first side margin which is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in one waist region of the absorbent article to provide a front permanent joint. The opposed side panels further define a second side margin opposite the first side margin which is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in the other waist region of the absorbent article to provide a back permanent joint. The fastener and the line of weakness are located in one of the side panels, with the line of weakness separating the fastener from one of the permanent joints. The fastener is configured to be released and used to refastenably engage the at least one side panel to the opposite waist region of the absorbent article after the line of weakness is broken.

摘要： A method of making disposable absorbent articles which include an outer cover, an absorbent chassis and an adjustable belt includes providing two continuous, laterally spaced apart ribbons of fastener material and attaching belt segments between and to the ribbons of fastener material at longitudinally spaced apart locations in a continuous ladder type configuration. Two continuous, laterally spaced apart ribbons of belt loop material are also provided inward from and adjacent to each of the ribbons of fastener material. The ribbons of fastener material and ribbons of belt loop material are selectively cut into discrete adjustable belts each of which defines one of the belt segments, a pair of laterally spaced apart fasteners attached to opposite end portions of the belt segment, and a pair of laterally spaced apart belt loops. The longitudinal ends of the belt loops of each of the adjustable belts are attached to a waist region of each of the absorbent articles to slidably contain the adjustable belts between the longitudinal ends of the belt loops. The fasteners on the adjustable belts are configured to releasably engage an opposite waist region of the absorbent article to conform the waist regions to a wearer's body after the absorbent article has been placed on the wearer. The belt loops may include fastener material on a bodyfacing surface to provide another pair of fasteners.

摘要： This invention pertains to bonded composites, and absorbent articles comprising such bonded composites. The bonded composites comprise first and second layers of thin-section sheet material bonded by bond elements defining a bond pattern. The bond pattern has a length, and width. The bond pattern includes a first sub-array of longitudinally-oriented separate and distinct stress receptor elements proximate the side edges, and spaced at first distances from each other, and a second sub-array of longitudinally-oriented separate and distinct transfer and dissipation elements preferably disposed inwardly of the side edges and inwardly of the stress receptor elements, and at second distances from the stress receptor elements less than spacing of the stress receptor elements from each other. Bonds can be activated by application of thermal or ultrasonic energy, or pressure e.g. against adhesive. The thin-section elements can comprise polymeric material selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, polyesters, and polyamides, and copolymers, mixtures, and blends of such polymeric materials, and are preferably structured as fibrous, film, or foam work pieces. The composite contact length at a given point along the length of the pattern preferably varies from the average composite contact length by no more than about 13 percent. In preferred embodiments, stress transfer and dissipation elements direct stresses inwardly into the interior of the pattern. In some embodiments, transfer and dissipation elements have first ends disposed on the interior of the pattern, and extend to second ends adjacent side edges of the pattern between respective ones of the stress receptor elements.

The absorbent pad comprises an absorbent core surrounded by a first folded layer and optionally a second folded barrier layer. Folds of the first and second folded layers unfold and thereby open when an extensible bodyside liner and/or outer cover of the absorbent article are extended. The folds, when opened, extend the respective folded layers in a respective cross-direction or longitudinal direction. Extension of the folds of the first and second folded layers prevents tearing of the absorbent pad and damage to, or release of superabsorbent material from the absorbent pad during extension of the absorbent article. The folds can comprise T-folds, C-folds, pleated arrangements, corrugations, or the like.
