摘要： A pant-like, refastenable, disposable absorbent article includes an absorbent chassis, a pair of opposed side panels, a pair of releasable joints and a pair of proportional fasteners. The absorbent chassis defines a pair of laterally opposed side edges and a pair of longitudinally opposed waist edges. The side panels extend between and connect the side edges of the absorbent chassis to define a waist opening and a pair of leg openings in the pant-like disposable absorbent article. Each of the opposed side panels defines a first side margin which is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in one waist region of the absorbent article to provide a permanent joint. Each of the opposed side panels further defines a second side margin opposite the first side margin which is releasably attached to the side edges of the absorbent chassis in the other waist region of the absorbent article to provide the releasable joints. The proportional fasteners are located adjacent the releasable joints and are configured to be smaller in the longitudinal direction than the releasable joints. The fasteners are used to refastenably engage the second side margins of the side panels to the opposite waist region of the absorbent article.

摘要： A pant-like, disposable absorbent article includes an absorbent chassis, a pair of opposed side panels, at least one line of weakness and at least one fastener. The absorbent chassis defines a pair of laterally opposed side edges and a pair of longitudinally opposed waist edges. The side panels extend between the side edges of the absorbent chassis to define a waist opening and a pair of leg openings in the pant-like disposable absorbent article. Each of the opposed side panels defines a first side margin which is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in one waist region of the absorbent article to provide a front permanent joint. The opposed side panels further define a second side margin opposite the first side margin which is permanently attached to the side edge of the absorbent chassis in the other waist region of the absorbent article to provide a back permanent joint. The fastener and the line of weakness are located in one of the side panels, with the line of weakness separating the fastener from one of the permanent joints. The fastener is configured to be released and used to refastenably engage the at least one side panel to the opposite waist region of the absorbent article after the line of weakness is broken.

Two continuous, laterally spaced apart ribbons of belt loop material are also provided inward from and adjacent to each of the ribbons of fastener material. The ribbons of fastener material and ribbons of belt loop material are selectively cut into discrete adjustable belts each of which defines one of the belt segments, a pair of laterally spaced apart fasteners attached to opposite end portions of the belt segment, and a pair of laterally spaced apart belt loops. The longitudinal ends of the belt loops of each of the adjustable belts are attached to a waist region of each of the absorbent articles to slidably contain the adjustable belts between the longitudinal ends of the belt loops. The fasteners on the adjustable belts are configured to releasably engage an opposite waist region of the absorbent article to conform the waist regions to a wearer's body after the absorbent article has been placed on the wearer. The belt loops may include fastener material on a bodyfacing surface to provide another pair of fasteners.

The folds, when opened, extend the respective folded layers in a respective cross-direction or longitudinal direction. Extension of the folds of the first and second folded layers prevents tearing of the absorbent pad and damage to, or release of superabsorbent material from the absorbent pad during extension of the absorbent article. The folds can comprise T-folds, C-folds, pleated arrangements, corrugations, or the like.

摘要： Disposable absorbent articles which include an outer cover, an absorbent chassis and a stretch band and methods of making the same are described. The stretch band is incorporated into the article by providing a waist panel which includes a pair of primary fasteners attached to a first surface on opposed side margins of the waist panel. The stretch band is attached to the second surface of the waist panel. The stretch band includes a pair of secondary fasteners on opposite end portions of the stretch band which are releasably engaged with the second surface of the waist panel. The second surface of the waist panel may then be attached to an inner surface of the outer cover such that the stretch band is slidably contained between the outer cover and the waist panel. The primary fasteners on the waist panel and the secondary fasteners on the stretch band are configured to releasably engage an opposite waist region of the absorbent article to initially fasten the absorbent article on the wearer and further conform the waist regions to the wearer's body after the absorbent article has been initially placed on the wearer.

摘要： A method of applying curved leg elastics to absorbent garments involves stretching and wrapping an elastic ribbon about a curved side of a puck. A portion of the elastic ribbon is simultaneously folded onto a top surface of the puck. The puck is attached to a rotating device that rotates the puck into alignment with a substrate. The substrate is then bonded to the portion of the elastic ribbon in its stretched position on the puck, thereby forming a finished seam. The resulting absorbent garments have gasket-like leg openings with improved comfort and aesthetic appeal.

摘要： A personal care article for preventing exudates from contacting the body of a user comprises a substrate including an extensible bodyside liner layer, and an aperture support structure limiting extensibility of the bodyside liner layer along the length of the aperture support structure. One support band of an aperture support structure runs through the gluteal fold between the buttocks of a user. The aperture support structure positions an aperture in the bodyside liner layer in the gluteal fold of a user, in alignment with the anus, so that fecal material enters a containment receptacle upon leaving the anus. In another embodiment, the personal care article can include a comfort stretch layer comprising an elastomeric, hot melt, pressure-sensitive adhesive located between a bodyside liner layer and an outer layer. Elastomeric elements can follow the outside edges along the length of the personal care article and then curve inwardly at the crotch portion and cross each other at a cooperative location frontward of the aperture and corresponding to the perineum of a user. The personal care article can also have a first length at rest, and a second length when secured to the body of a user, the second length being at least 30% greater than the first length.

The method moves a substrate along a substrate path, supplies the elastic material to an oscillation unit first roll mounted for pivoting and rolling engagement with a transfer roll, oscillates the oscillation unit in a path generally transverse to the substrate path, applies the elastic material from the first roll to the transfer roll in the desired curvilinear path configuration, then applies the elastic material from the transfer roll to the substrate and bonds the elastic material to the substrate. Optionally the first roll may apply the elastic material directly to the substrate. Also at least two webs of elastic materials may be applied to a continuously moving substrate in at least two curvilinear substrate paths by supplying the elastic materials to a single transfer roll, applying the elastic materials from the transfer roll to the substrate and bonding the elastic materials to the substrate.
