    • An active energy ray-curing abrasion resistant coating composition is provided by incorporating following components: (a) a carboxylate-containing polyfunctional acrylate obtained by reacting a tetracarboxylic dianhydride and a hydroxyl group-containing polyfunctional acrylate having hydroxyl group(s) and at least three acryloyl groups and then neutralizing the reaction product; (b) a polyfunctional acrylate having at least three acryloyl groups; (c) an organic solvent; and (d) a photopolymerization initiator. The composition may comprise in addition to the components (e) a silica sol in an organic solvent as a dispersion medium. The composition may further comprise in addition to the components (f) an acrylic resin. Such composition is an active energy ray-curing abrasion-resistant coating composition which forms a film having excellent adhesion to a plastic sustrate, transparency, abrasion resistance and antistatic properties.

    • An aqueous ink recording sheet is described which is prepared by coating on the surface of a substrate sheet a resin composition containing as the chief ingredient a mixture comprising (A) 10 to 90 wt % of photo polymerizable, double bonded anionic synthetic resin, and (B) 90 to 0 wt % of partially or completely saponified polyvinyl alcohol, or partially or completely saponified polymer resin composed of 20 to 100 wt % of vinyl acetate and 80 to 0 wt % of other polymerizable monomer or derivatives thereof, and/or (C) 90 to 0 wt % of homopolymer resin of N-vinylpyrrolidone or copolymer resin of other polymerizable monomer therewith, with the weight ratio of (A)/[(B)+(C)] being 90/10 to 10/90, drying the coated resin composition, and then curing the resin composition by the irradiation with actinic rays so as to form a resin coating layer on the substrate.The aqueous ink recording sheet of the present invention is not only capable of recording distinctly and sharply the multicolor full color copy that is an advantageous point in ink jet process but also excellent in both the adsorbency and the dryness against the ink.

    • A process of purifying maleic anhydride graft polyolefin comprising the steps of adding an aqueous solution of alkali initial hydroxide to a solution of maleic anhydride graft polyolefin containing unreacted maleic anhydride which is dissolved in an organic solvent at a temperature from 80.degree. C. to 160.degree. C., thereby precipitating maleic anhydride graft polyolefin particles to make a W/O emulsion; stirring the W/O emulsion while maintaining the temperature at a same temperature as above for less than 2 hours, thereby selectively forming the alkali metal salt of unreacted maleic anhydride; adding the aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide to the W/O emulsion to convert the W/O emulsion into an O/W emulsion; separating the maleic anhydride draft polyolefin particles, and washing the maleic anhydride graft polyolefin particles with water.
