摘要： A rectangular battery having an electrode group which is inserted in a battery case having an airtight structure. The electrode group is formed by alternately stacking positive electrodes and negative electrodes via separators. The battery case is rectangular had has a closed bottom and an open part that is airtightly sealed by a cover. The outermost electrodes, which are located on both faces of the electrode group, are coated with an active material on a surface of a core. Furthermore, the outermost electrodes have the same polarity and the cores thereof directly contact an inside surface of the outer battery case. In one embodiment, the capacity of the outermost electrodes is smaller than the capacity of the inwardly disposed electrodes of the same polarity.

摘要： A conductive agent for use in alkaline storage batteries in accordance with one aspect of the present invention contains 0.1 to 10% by weight sodium. This sodium content results from cobalt or a cobalt compound, to which an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide is added and heated to 50 to 200.degree. C. A non-sintered nickel electrode for use in alkaline storage batteries is also proposed. In this electrode, the aforesaid conductive agent in accordance with the present invention is added to a pulverulent active material consisting of grains of nickel hydroxide or grains mainly constituted by nickel hydroxide such that 1 to 20 parts by weight of the conductive agent is added to 100 parts by weight nickel hydroxide contained in the pulverulent active material. Another non-sintered nickel electrode for use in alkaline storage batteries is also proposed. In this electrode, an active material takes the form of composite particles consisting of grains of nickel hydroxide or grains mainly constituted by nickel hydroxide, each of which has a surface formed with an electric conduction layer consisting of a cobalt compound containing 0.1 to 10% by weight sodium.

The data transfer system or the computer system comprising: a functional circuit board having a functional circuit, a pre-charge resistor and a switching element connected in parallel to an input/output signal path of the functional circuit and a switching control means for controlling the conduction of the switching element through synchronization with a delayed clock signal resulting from delaying a bus clock signal for use in data transfers through the bus by a time shorter than a bus-clock cycle time of the bus clock signal; and a connector provided on an input/output end of the parallel connection of the pre-charge resistor and the switching element, whereby the functional circuit board can be inserted and withdrawn to and from the bus.

This microscope includes a charge-coupled image sensor on which a diffraction image is projected. The region covered by the image sensor is divided into two parts by a straight line. 摘要： Improved friction pads for use with disc brake. The pad has a central main portion and a peripheral portion which are formed of different matrices having different compositions. The matrix of the central main portion contains a hard substance or substances having a specified range of hardness whereas the matrix of the peripheral portion does not contain such hard substances or contains in only a limited smaller amount than the central main portion. This prevents the brake disc from wearing due to friction with the pad and thus avoids uneven abrasion of the brake disc.
