摘要： This invention is directed to a new process for making an alkylaromatic compound. In an embodiment of this invention, the process is directed to selective synthesizing an alkylaromatic compound comprising a high amount of dialkylate product. In general, this process involves contacting at least one alkylatable aromatic compound with an alkylating agent and a catalyst under suitable reaction conditions such that the resulting reactor effluent prior to any stripping step may be characterized by a dialkylate product content of at least 44 wt % and a trialkylate and higher polyalkylate product content of no more than 20 wt %. The alkylaromatic compounds produced have excellent thermal and oxidative stabilities, good additive solvency, and improved seal compatibility while maintaining good VI and low temperature properties. They are useful as lubricant basestocks and lubricant additives.

摘要： A process for producing a fluoroalkyl iodide as a telomer Rf(CF2CF2)nI (wherein Rf is a C1-10 fluoroalkyl group, and n is an integer of from 1 to 6) by telomerization from a fluoroalkyl iodide represented by the formula RfI (wherein Rf is as defined above) as a telogen and tetrafluoroethylene (CF2CF2) as a taxogen, which comprises a liquid phase telomerization step of supplying a homogeneous liquid mixture of the telogen and the taxogen from the lower portion of a tubular reactor, moving the mixture from the lower portion towards the upper portion of the reactor in the presence of a radical initiator over a retention time of at least 5 minutes while the reaction system is kept in a liquid phase state is under conditions where no gas-liquid separation will take place, so that the taxogen supplied to the reactor is substantially consumed by the reaction in the reactor, and drawing the reaction product from the upper portion of the reactor.

摘要： The partially fluorinated alkene 4,4,4-trifluoro-2-methyl-1-butene is produced by the selective dehydrochlorination of 3-chloro-1,1,1-trifluoro-3-methylbutane in the presence of a suitable base at elevated temperatures. The alkene is converted to 1,2-epoxy-4,4,4-trifluoro-2-methylbutane which is polymerizable in the presence of an aluminum coordination catalyst. A copolymer can be made with epichlorohydrin.
