    • A telescopic shaft for vehicles comprising an inner shaft axially movable in an outer shaft. The telescopic shaft comprises at least two rows of balls with at least one ball per row between the inner shaft and the outer shaft. A row of balls is arranged on at least one ball race arranged against the inner shaft. The ball race is wedge shaped on its against the inner shaft facing surface. The telescopic shaft comprises a prestress mechanism which pushes the ball race along a wedge unit axially in relation to and radially in the direction against the outer shaft. whereby the telescopic shaft is prestressed. The prestress mechanism is arranged to release the prestress when the alteration in length of the telescopic shaft exceeds a predetermined length.

    • The present invention relates to a torque transmitting cardan shaft, and, in principle, includes within the shaft an adapted intermediate member or shaft, which has a first end section, that is intended for a rotationally rigid co-action with a first universal joint yoke and a second end section, opposite the first end section, intended for a rotationally rigid co-action with a second universal joint yoke. The intermediate member or shaft and its end section is configured as and includes two parts or sub-sections, which are mutually joined via a safety coupling arrangement, by which a free coupling of the subsections from one other can be ensured immediately after the torque, between said subsections, exceeds a predetermined value, determined by the construction of the safety coupling arrangement. An end section and its universal joint yoke includes an axially orientated cylindrical groove or recess, which has a centre axis that is co-ordinated with or aligned with a rotational axis of said first end section and its co-ordinated universal joint yoke. The circular groove or recess is dimensioned to enable the enclosure of a major cylindrical part of said safety coupling arrangement and its safety unit first part and co-operate with a second part formed as a disc. The end section or extension and its yoke are integrated formed to one single piece.

    • A telescoping steering column assembly has an inner jacket and an outer jacket telescopically engaged with a sleeve between the inner and outer jackets. The sleeve has internal and external ribs which run parallel to a longitudinal axis of the sleeve, the internal ribs contacting an outer surface of the inner jacket, and the external ribs contacting an inner surface of the outer jacket. The internal and external ribs are circumferentially offset to allow the wall of the sleeve to flex relative to the opposing surfaces of the jackets, resulting in smooth telescoping action of the assembly without lash. In addition, the system provides a constant collapsing force and provides guidance for a controlled collapse of either a telescoping or non-telescoping column assembly in a vehicle crash impact.

    • A vehicle steering telescopic shaft having a male shaft and a female shaft so fitted to each other as not to be rotatable but to be slidable. First torque transmitting members are disposed between the male shaft and the female shaft, and roll when the male shaft and the female shaft make relative movements in axial directions.
