摘要： An underground storage tank with backfill deflectors is provided to permit installation of the storage tank underground without requiring any workers to enter the excavation. The backfill deflectors are preferably elongate, and generally the same length as or longer than the storage tanks with which they are used and are installed on the bottom of the excavation on either side of the tank. The deflectors have walls which are sloped or inclined in a direction which tends to direct backfill dumped thereon underneath the storage tank. Desirably, the deflectors direct the backfill under the tank without requiring any of the workers to enter the excavation to shovel the backfill underneath the lower portion or haunches of the tank. After a sufficient level of backfill is introduced into the excavation and directed under the tank by the deflectors, the backfill is vibrated to achieve a compacted backfill under the tank which is sufficient to support the tank. Preferably, the backfill is vibrated with a concrete vibrator with a probe on a long cord or tether, and may be accomplished without any workers entering the excavation. Such a vibrator, commonly used to compact concrete in forms, will move the backfill into any voids in the backfill under the tank to provide an even support for the bottom of the tank along its entire length.

The indentations (48) made by the backfill earth (45, 46) in the pile jacket generally do not destroy the flat abutment of the inside sheet (21) with the surface of the pile, so that a slip plane is maintained between the pile jacket and the pile, permitting the pile jacket to move downwardly when the backfill material settles without transmitting a major downward load from the backfill material to the pile.

摘要： Concrete wall supports that reduce or eliminate wall movement due to exterior horizontal forces. One support is a bracket mounted to a floor joist with a plate extending below the top of the wall and two legs extending from the plate and attaching to the joist. One leg is above the concrete wall on one horizontal side of the plate, and the other leg is on the opposite side of the plate. Another support has a plate that extends below the top of the wall with two legs on opposite sides of the joist above the wall. A leg attaches to the lower edge of the joist. A support against shear forces includes a highly water permeable aggregate composite disposed in the voids of the wall, with a supportive strip that is enclosed in the aggregate composite and extends out of the voids to the face of the wall.

An aggregate replacement includes a structure having a proximal face, a distal face, a bottom face and two side faces with a plurality of openings. The two side faces and bottom face have a proximal edge, a distal edge and two side edges. The proximal face and distal face are coupled to the proximal edges or distal edges of the two side faces and bottom face to form an obtuse angle. A first of the side edges of the side faces is coupled to the side edges of the bottom face. A coupler and a locking device are coupled to a second of the side edges of the side faces. The coupler and locking device couple the structure to a second structure with the second of the side edges of the side faces abutting.
