摘要： A method of reducing the swell potential of an expansive clay mineral. The method includes (a) carrying out a forcefield-modified molecular level simulation to determine an amount of a swelling reduction agent to be incorporated into the expansive clay mineral to form a swelling reduction agent incorporated expansive clay mineral with a reduced swell potential Si(ECM) that is no greater than a pre-set level T, wherein the swelling reduction agent comprises at least one cementation material of calcite, gypsum, and potassium chloride and/or at least one exchangeable cation of K+, Ca2+, and Mg2+, and wherein the forcefield-modified molecular level simulation comprises molecular mechanics, molecular dynamics, and Monte Carlo simulation techniques configured to simulate the reduced swell potential Si(ECM), and (b) incorporating the amount of the swelling reduction agent into the expansive clay mineral to form the swelling reduction agent incorporated expansive clay mineral.

摘要： A method of reducing propagation of cracks in concrete includes placing at least one curved panel in an area into which concrete is to be poured such that a bottom surface of the at least one curved panel directly contacts a first surface of the area. The method further includes pouring the concrete onto the first surface of the area such that the concrete directly contacts a concave surface and a convex surface of the at least one curved panel. The concave surface and the convex surface project in a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the bottom surface. The method further includes ceasing to pour the concrete when substantially an entirety of the convex surface and substantially an entirety of the concave surface of the at least one curved panel are in direct contact with the concrete.

摘要： A device for forming, reinforcing, joint sealing and edge protecting of a concrete slab panel, wherein the concrete slab panel having a volume, a length, a width, and a surface. The device comprising of an elongated post having a body, a top end and a bottom end with a plurality of elongated grooves extending along the body; a mounting frame has a length, a width and a thickness. The mounting frames having a connecting means to connect the mounting frame to the posts. The present invention eliminates the needs for saw-cut lines for crack inducement and acts as a joint sealer for the concrete slab to relieve the tensile stresses.

摘要： A system is provided that increases the deformability of buried pipelines to accommodate combinations of vertical, lateral and longitudinal displacements and subsequent curvatures caused by ground movements. Installation of this system prevents concentration of deformations which may cause catastrophic failures such as buckling, yielding, rupture, and weld failures. The assembly includes an element provided adjacent a pipeline and collapsible in two orthogonal directions; one, the longitudinal direction of the pipe, and two, a direction of expected lateral movement of the pipe. The collapsible element is configured to resist soil pressure in a direction orthogonal to the first two directions, and further provided is a supporting backing element adjacent an end of the collapsible element opposed to the pipeline, to prevent exposure of the collapsible element to soil pressure in one of the two orthogonal collapsible directions. The size and configuration of the installation depends on the soil and pipe properties, and type/magnitude of expected displacements.

摘要： A method for waterproofing below-grade structures includes at least one step of injecting at least one compound adjacent to the surface that is directed toward the outside of a region of soil arranged adjacent to a below-grade structure to be waterproofed. The method further includes at least one step of measuring the electrical resistivity of the at least one region of soil subjected to the injection step. The at least one measurement step is adapted to detect the portions of the region of soil that are affected by the injection of the at least one compound.

摘要： An embodiment of the system for forming a movable slab foundation as comprised by the present invention has a slab foundation, at least one support pier, at least one housing, a seal plate, and at least one support sleeve. The seal plate is positioned within the at least one housing and its outer peripheries are sealingly engaged with the inner surfaces of the at least one housing. The at least one housing and the seal plate are positioned within the at least one support pier. The at least one support sleeve is encased within the slab foundation and its lower end is positioned in abutting contact with the housing. A port is located in and extends through the upper end of the housing and into a cavity between the housing and the seal plate. The at least one housing is capable of movement upward relative to the seal plate.

摘要： An apparatus for bracing a masonry wall that is bowing or has begun to buckle as a result of hydrostatic pressure and/or other forces as may occur with the foundation or basement wall of a building. The wall restraint system includes a vertically disposed beam, which is positioned against a vertical concrete masonry wall and secured in place by a bottom bracket and a top bracket. The beam reinforces the wall and prevents further bowing, buckling, or potentially collapsing of the wall. One end of the beam is secured to the floor by a bottom bracket. The bottom bracket preferably receives the lower end of the beam. The upper end of the beam is secured against the basement wall by a top bracket or offset connector, which in turn is secured to one of the overhead floor joists. The beam may be offset to avoid piping or the like.

摘要： A foundation protective layer for installation adjacent a foundation wall of a building includes a thermally insulative layer comprising a layer of foam and an upwardly extending drain passage thereon to facilitate drainage of groundwater, typically into a french drain. The drain passage may be formed within a conduit or a strip of porous material mounted on the insulative layer. A channel may be formed in the insulative layer in which the conduit or strip of porous material is disposed. The conduit may have a corrugated sidewall which may be perforated or split along its length. The strip of porous material may be formed of a web of non-woven fibers. An attachment mechanism may be used for attaching the insulative layer to the foundation wall.
