    • A prosthesis mounting device and assembly for securing a prosthesis on an implant supported in bone tissue. An appendage or “preppable abutment” is carried by a dental implant and is milled or “prepped” into a shape suitable to accept a dental prosthesis such as a crown or bridge. Alternatively the appendage may be cast using a lost-wax investment molding process in which an appendage model is shaped by adding and sculpting wax onto portions of a calcinable appendage and/or removing material from portions of the appendage before using the model to form a mold. In each case the appendage is formed to include a recess that extends axially upwardly from a bottom end of the appendage and is shaped to fit over an O-ring receiver abutment or “O-ball” of a dental implant.

    • A two-part dental implant includes distal and proximal implant portions which in an interconnected condition at least indirectly adjoin each other at a connecting location and have mutually facing surfaces in the region of the connecting location. A sealing body is provided between the mutually facing surfaces of the distal and proximal implant portions. The sealing body has sealing surfaces which face towards the mutually facing surfaces and which in the interconnected condition of the two implant portions bear sealingly against the mutually facing surfaces thereof. In addition, mutually facing abutment surfaces are provided between the distal and proximal implant portions. These mutually facing abutment surfaces bear against each other in the final assembled dental implant and limit the degree of approach of the two mutually facing surfaces of the implant portions between which the sealing body is arranged. The abutment surfaces define a minimum spacing of the two mutually facing surfaces of the implant portions, which is bridged over by the sealing body. The sealing body is at least partially comprised of an elastic material.

The connection is strengthened so that removal of the model abutment and attached dental prosthesis from the dental implant or duplicate does not deform the model abutment, the model abutment and attached dental prosthesis are removed from the dental implant or said duplicate; and the model abutment used to form a permanent abutment.

    • A universal dental implant abutment system is provided which includes an abutment collar and a fixation screw. The abutment collar has a proximal end portion adapted for fixation to a dental prosthesis and a distal end portion adapted for coupling with an implant body. The fixation screw is disposed within a longitudinal bore of the abutment collar and has a threaded distal end for securement to the implant body. The fixation screw has a head portion formed on a proximal end thereof, the head portion having a longitudinally directed bore formed therein. The longitudinal bore of the head of the fixation screw is formed with two longitudinally spaced sections. One section has a non-circular cross-sectional contour adapted for receiving a driving tool therein. The other section has internal threads formed therein adapted for threaded engagement with a retention fastener of a prosthesis.
