    • It is an object of the present invention to provide a rubber composition which has been improved in mechanical properties with maintaining excellent various properties and is favorably used for a fuel cell sealing member, a hard disc drive top cover gasket member and an electric wire connector sealing member. It is another object of the present invention to provide main bodies mounted with the above respective members obtained by the use of the rubber composition. The rubber composition of the invention comprises a specific ethylene/α-olefin/non-conjugated polyene copolymer in which the non-conjugated polyene is a norbornene-based compound, a specific SiH group-containing compound, and if necessary, an organopolysiloxane. Such a rubber composition of the invention is excellent in mechanical properties and can be particularly favorably used for a fuel cell sealing member, a hard disc drive top cover gasket, an electric wire connector sealing member, etc.

    • A process for preparing an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/norbornene nonconjugated polyene random copolymer, comprising preparing an ethylene random copolymer simultaneously meeting the following requirements (1) to (5):(1) the molar ratio of ethylene (a) to an .alpha.-olefin (b) having 3 to 20 carbon atoms ranges from 40:60 to 95:5;(2) a given amount of non conjugated polyene (c) has a norbornene skeleton;(3) the available network chain density .nu. is not less than 1.5.times.10.sup.20 /cm.sup.3 after press cross-linking of the copolymer using a dicumyl peroxyde;(4) the ratio of the rate .gamma.1 of shear showing a shearing stress of 0.4.times.10.sup.6 dyn/cm.sup.2 as determined from the melt flow curve at 100.degree. C. and the rate .gamma.2 of shear showing a shearing stress of 2.4.times.10.sup.6 dyn/cm.sup.2, that is .gamma.2/.gamma.1 and the available network chain density .nu. has a relationship represented by the following general formula: 0.04.times.10.sup.-19 .ltoreq.Log(.gamma.2/.gamma.1)/.nu..ltoreq.0.20.times.10.sup.-19 ; and(5) the intrinsic viscosity [.eta.] ranges from 0.5 to 10 dl/g as measured in decalin at 135.degree. C. The copolymer has excellent cross-linkability, can be cross-linked with a small amount of a peroxide or the like, and a cross-linked rubber composition prepared using this copolymer has excellent heat aging resistance, mechanical strength, weather resistance, and oxone resistance.

    • The invention provides a copolymer rubber excellent in processability in kneading and processability in extrusion; rubber compositions containing the rubber; and crosslinked moldings of the compositions excellent in sealing properties and shape retention. A random copolymer rubber of ethylene (A), a C3-20 α-olefin (B) and a nonconjugated polyene (C) which satisfies the following requirements (1) to (5): (1) the structural units (A) and (B) are contained at an (A)/(B) molar ratio of 40/60 to 95/5, (2) the structural unit (C) content is 0.01 to 5% by mole, (3) the limiting viscosity [η] is 1.0 to 5.0 dl/g as determined in decahydronaphthalene at 135°., (4) the Mw/Mn is 1 to 8, and (5) the P value is 0.46 to 1.00 as defined by formula (1): P=Ln(limiting viscosity [η])−5.0×105×η*(10) (1) (wherein Ln is a natural logarithm; and η*(10) is viscosity (Pa·sec) as determined at 190° C. and at 10 rad/sec.
