    • A nut is buried previously in the inside of a roof spoiler to direct an axis center of its threaded hole to a working hole of an inner panel. A concave seat portion is formed on a surface of the roof spoiler on an outer panel side. A spacer is adhered to the concave seat portion. The spacer has a hole opened at the center portion thereof, and a bolt seat surface and an inclined surface on the outer panel side. The outer panel is deformed and fitted tightly to the spacer by fastening the bolt. A threaded portion of a bolt is inserted into a through hole formed in the outer panel and then screwed into the nut via the hole in the spacer.

    • An air bag module comprises a housing for being mounted on a vehicle body and a cover fixedly secured on the housing. The housing has a base plate portion and a support plate portion bent down from the base plate portion. The support plate portion is provided with engagement holes. The cover has a cover portion having dimensions sufficient to cover the base plate portion of said housing, a substantially-cylindrical mounting plate portion extending from the cover portion toward the housing and located outside the support plate portion, short cylindrical convexities maintained in engagement with the engagement holes, and indentations formed in the mounting plate portion at plural locations spaced from each other in a peripheral direction of the mounting plate portion. The short cylindrical convexities are formed on the mounting plate portion and are located on a single plane extending across a direction in which the cylindrical mounting plate portion extends. Deepest portions of the indentations are substantially coincided with the single plane.

    • The present invention relates to an arrangement for attaching a plastic panel to an automotive body metal substructure enabling controlled distortion free thermal expansion and contraction of the plastic panel relative to a metal substructure. The attaching arrangement comprises a plastic adjustable mounting block sized for initial insertion in an associated wide slot portion of a keyhole-shaped expansion and contraction slot. The block has a central abutment portion depending from an upper plate portion including lateral extending wings providing with the plate opposed grooves adapted to slidably engage a narrow trailing slot portion of the keyhole-shaped slot upon the blocks subsequent longitudinal rearward movement. The block has a vertically disposed longitudinally extending integral locating frangible finger extending longitudinally from the abutment portion adapted to engage the rearward transverse edge of the narrow slot portion allowing the precisely located block to be readily affixed by a fastener to the plastic panel. Upon the panel undergoing shrinkage the narrow slot portion transverse edge crushes the locating finger enabling the plastic panel and its associated blocks to slide fore and aft relative to the substructure to accommodate thermal movement of the panel.

    • A vehicle plastic panel is mounted by means of a one-piece molded screw anchor on a substructure member in a bi-directional tolerance compensating manner. The screw anchor is adapted for snap-in capture in a substructure elongated rectangular aperture enabling it to slide along the aperture major axis. Upon the insertion of a self-tapping screw in a panel circular opening overlying the screw anchor, the screw tip enters the anchor upper lead-in chamber. If the screw and anchor are misaligned, the screw tip contacts a subjacent one of a pair of opposed anchor ramped side surface portions whereby the anchor is cammed for limited adjustment along the aperture major axis. The anchor ramped surface portions terminate in a lower, elongated channel extending transverse to the major axis. The anchor base wall is adapted to be threadably engaged upon driving the screw at a piercing point in vertical alignment with the panel opening.
