    • A memory device that includes an input interface that receives instructions and input data on a first plurality of serial links. The instructions and input data are deserialized on the memory device, and are provided to a memory controller. The memory controller initiates accesses to a memory core in response to the received instructions. The memory core includes a plurality of memory partitions, which are accessed in a cyclic and overlapping manner. This allows each memory partition to operate at a slower frequency than the serial links, while properly servicing the received instructions. Accesses to the memory device are performed in a synchronous manner, wherein each access exhibits a known fixed latency.

    • A content matching engine (CME) uses a content addressable memory (CAM) array that stores a plurality of strings in separate entries. The strings define one or more rules to be matched. The strings of each rule are linked, thereby providing a required order. The strings of each rule can be linked by per-entry counters associated with each string, or by a state machine. The strings in the CAM array are compared with a packet, which is shifted one symbol at a time (because the strings can start on any boundary). When the CAM detects a match, the CAM skips over the string that resulted in the match, thereby preventing erroneous matches. The CAM allows parallel matching to be performed for multiple rules. If the contents of a packet match all of the strings of a rule, in order, then the CME asserts a match/index signal that identifies the matched rule.

    • A scalable networking protocol that allows multiple nodes to communicate via a multi-channel network medium is described. The networking protocol allows any node on the network to assign itself as the active network server. The active network server polls client nodes based on a lineup card. The lineup card includes a high priority queue for low-latency devices, and a low priority queue for devices that can tolerate higher latencies. Network information is sent on the channels as fragments. The protocol provides bad-channel detection and retransmission of fragments in a fragment-by-fragment basis. Support for streaming data or asynchronous data is provided by allocating time slots on the network and allowing two intelligent nodes to talk directly to each other during count-limited token sessions, as arbitrated by the active network server. The network node serving as the active network server can be changed on a dynamic basis, and is typically determined by the first node initiating a transmit request on a sleeping network. Client nodes are addressed by dynamic-polling using an address isolation scheme.

    • A stencil screen with a desired pattern to be imprinted is supported on a stencil screen frame.     • A CAM circuit including a RAM array, a CAM array, a control/interface circuit, and an error detection and correction (EDC) circuit. The control/interface circuit systematically writes data from the RAM array to the CAM array, thereby preventing soft errors by continually refreshing data stored in the CAM array. The RAM array also stores check bits for each data word that can be generated by the EDC circuit when the data words are initially written to the CAM circuit. During the refresh operation, data words and associated check bits are read from the RAM array and transmitted to the EDC circuit. The EDC circuit analyzes each data word and associated check bits to detect errors, and corrects the data word, if necessary, before sending the data word to the CAM array.
