摘要： In one general aspect, a medical device can include an implant having a medial portion and a distal portion. The medical device can include a delivery member including a dilator having a distal portion, and a tube coupled to the dilator. The tube can define a lumen in fluid communication with an opening in the tube. The opening can be disposed between the distal portion of the implant and the distal portion of the dilator of the delivery member. The medical device can include a sleeve having a lumen. The distal portion of the implant and at least a portion of the delivery member can be disposed within the lumen portion of the sleeve.

摘要： Methods and devices provide constriction of a heart valve annulus to treat cardiac valve regurgitation and other conditions. Embodiments typically include a device for attaching a cinching or tightening apparatus to a heart valve annulus to reduce the circumference of the annulus, thus reducing valve regurgitation. Tightening devices may include multiple tethered clips, multiple untethered crimping clips, stabilizing devices, visualization devices, and the like. In one embodiment, a plurality of tethered clips is secured circumferentially to a valve annulus, and the tether coupling the clips is cinched to reduce the circumference of at least a portion of the annulus. Methods and devices may be used in open heart surgical procedures, minimally invasive procedures, catheter-based procedures, and/or procedures on beating hearts or stopped hearts.

摘要： One embodiment is directed to a method for providing surgical access across a wall of a tissue structure, comprising: advancing a helical needle into the wall of the tissue structure such that the needle pulls an intercoupled suture member across the wall to form a deployed suture pattern, the deployed suture pattern being characterized in that: the portion of the suture member encapsulated by the wall of the tissue structure is substantially helical in formation and represents a number of helical loops that is greater than about one helical loop, and is less than about three helical loops; portions of the suture member on either side of the wall are in a slack configuration such that tension in the suture member arising from the encapsulated portion pulls in additional length from the slack configuration on either side of the wall to accommodate expansion of the substantially helical encapsulated portion.

摘要： The present invention provides a surgical instrument for use during a surgical procedure for the treatment of female urinary incontinence. The surgical instrument comprises a handle including a gripping mechanism (30) providing a means for the surgeon to manipulate the surgical instrument. The handle further includes a coupling means (40) enabling the interconnection of a curved needle-like element to the handle. The curved needle-like element (10) has at least two eyes therethrough, wherein one eye (80) is located in the proximity of the first end (70) of the element and a second eye (90) is located in the proximity of the opposite end (60) of the needle-like element. During the surgical procedure, surgical tape (100) is passed through one of the eyes and drawn through the body in a manner such that the surgical tape forms a suburethral sling, wherein the two ends of the surgical tape emerge from the abdominal wall.

摘要： An improved device and method for suturing penetrations and incisions through tissue into a body cavity. The device should find particular use in laparoscopic and other types of minimally invasive surgical procedures. A device according to the invention includes a shaft and an inverted needle joined to the shaft. Two ends of a length of suture material are attached at or near a sharpened proximal tip on the needle. The device may include a movable shield that is slidable to alternately cover and expose the sharpened tip of the needle. This shield may include a blunt distal end and an inclined proximal surface to assist the surgeon in guiding the hook into and out of the body cavity. The device may be provided with a visual and tactile indicator on one side of the device to assist the user in threading and removing the suture material into and out of a selected side of the hook.
