摘要： A carpet including yarn pile extending from the face of a primary backing and a secondary backing bonded to the back of the primary backing has a thin film of liquid impervious thermoplastic material bonded either to the rear of the primary backing or to the rear of the secondary backing to provide a fluid barrier for preventing spills from seeping through to a floor beneath the carpet. The film is bonded to either backing by a hot melt thermoplastic adhesive or other non-aqueous adhesive. Additionally, the method of providing such fluid barrier for the carpet is disclosed.

摘要： An improved cushioned carpet fabric is provided. The cushioned carpet comprises a primary carpet having a primary base and a plurality of pile-forming yarns projecting outwardly from one side. A layer of reinforcement material is bonded to the primary base on the side opposite the pile forming yarns. The reinforcement layer is adjacent to and embedded in, a cushion layer of a polymer such as a polyurethane. There is preferably no additional adhesive between the cushion layer and the layer of reinforcement material since the primary carpet fabric is mated in-situ to the polyurethane-forming composition without preheating the polyurethane-forming composition. An apparatus and process for forming the cushioned carpet fabric of the present invention are also provided.

The device includes an applicator body containing a bore with injection ports and an applicator slot extending through a round applicator pipe, and an internal foam distribution pipe. The applicator pipe has a diameter of one to three inches in order that the backing of the fabric may be wrapped around said pipe.

摘要： Useful resilient extruded closed cell foam compositions are produced by the present invention by forming an extrudable blend comprising a heat activatible chemical blowing agent and a polymer component consisting essentially of chlorinated polyethylene and at least one other thermoplastic polymer. The amount of chlorinated polyethylene is from 0.025 to 0.5 parts per part of the thermoplastic polymer. The blend is extruded at a temperature below the activation temperature of the blowing agent to form an unfoamed thermoplastic sheet, and the sheet is thereafter heated to a temperature sufficient to activate the blowing agent and expand the sheet and produce a non-crosslinked closed cell thermoplastic foam.

摘要： The gel range of acid-acting delayed-action gelling agents, such as sodium silicofluoride, in latex spread foam compounds which are to be gelled by subjecting them to a preliminary heat treatment prior to drying is substantially broadened by including a water-soluble ammonium or amine sulfamate in the compound. At least 0.5 parts by weight of the sulfamate should be used per 100 parts by weight of dry solids in the starting uncompounded latex. It can be added to the latex at any time before or during the compounding step and it is preferably added with 0.5-1 part of a soap per part of sulfamate and also with sufficient ammonium hydroxide or other ammonia donor compound to maintain the pH of the compounded latex composition at 9.5 or higher.
