摘要： An apparatus for communication between a site within a body deep to the skin and a source, depot, reservoir, device, machine, or power source external to the body via the mouth of the body, comprising an implant for placement in tooth-supporting bone, the implant having a first portion extending into the mouth external to the tooth-supporting bone, a second portion for being embedded in the tooth-supporting bone, and an opening extending along the implant from the first portion to the second portion; and a conduit for coupling to the second portion of the implant when the implant is implanted in the tooth-supporting bone so that the conduit is in communication with the opening, the conduit being for extending from the implant to the site in the body.

摘要： An improved catheter and catheter system for long term implantation in a patient through a percutaneous access device are provided. The improved catheter has a loop in an external lead portion of the catheter which reduces bending, kinking, and cracking of the catheter and which reduces stress on the catheter and on the percutaneous access device as well. The system employs multiple catheters, each catheter having a loop to reduce stress. Each of the catheters of the system may have a single lumen or multiple lumens. A method of relieving stress at an external lead portion of a single or multi-lumen catheter is also provided.

摘要： An implant device for peritoneal dialysis which permits a flexible catheter to be removed and replaced without invasive surgery. The catheter is passed through a substantially rigid tubular percutaneous device and a flexible sleeve member which together form a continuous conduit from the body exterior through the peritoneal wall. The catheter is associated with a percutaneous tubular device so as to be removable and replaceable through the sleeve member after implantation. The catheter preferably has a relatively weak memory which gives it a tendency to maintain a compact coiled configuration near the peritoneal wall. The catheter may extend through the percutaneous device or, more preferably, terminates within the interior cavity of the percutaneous device and is sealed from the environment by means of a septum closure within the device cavity.

摘要： A percutaneous intradermal electrical connection system and implant device, the implant device including a flange and a neck extending from the flange. The neck has a cavity in its end and is provided with a lip for inhibiting the growth of epithelial or connective tissue over the neck cavity. A connecting device is partially housed within the neck cavity and allows a lead connected to the implant device to rotate through 360.degree.. The entire surface of the implant device may be electrically conductive and connected to the lead or, alternatively, the implant device may be provided with a separate electrode portion with the remainder of its surface being electrically insulated from the lead. In a preferred embodiment, the implant device is a unitary titanium member whose surface may be partially anodized to provide an insulated surface and establish the separate electrode portion. A preferred connecting device embodiment is magnetic.
