摘要： Example embodiments are related to intraosseous infusion port (IOP) devices to provide access to bone marrow cavities. The IOP device according to example embodiments may comprise a proximal portion with a hollow chamber extending through the proximal portion, the hollow chamber having a proximal inlet for receiving an insertion device. The IOP device may also include an anchor portion positioned distally to the proximal portion, the anchor portion may be configured for anchoring the infusion port device in a bone, and an open-ended channel extending through the anchor portion, the channel being in fluid communication with the hollow chamber, such that, when the infusion port is implanted into a bone, the channel and the hollow chamber create a substantially straight pathway terminating at an opening at its distal end for insertion of the insertion device towards the bone marrow.

摘要： A convection enhanced delivery device comprises a support member and an elongated microcatheter carried by the support member. The microcatheter projects lengthwise away from the support member. The microcatheter includes a catheter lumen extending in a first direction. A fluid conduit carried by the support member. The fluid conduit includes a conduit lumen that extends in a second direction different than the first direction. The conduit lumen is in fluid communication with the catheter lumen. An inlet port and a connecting port are also carried by the support member. The inlet port is in fluid communication with the fluid conduit. The connecting port is separate from the inlet port and is in fluid communication with the fluid conduit. The connecting port is configured to engage an end portion of an external fluid conduit such that the external fluid conduit projects away from the connecting port and from the support member.

摘要： An implantable drug delivery system includes a middle ear section with a proximal end fixed to a tympanic membrane of a patient, and a distal end that penetrates through a fluid-tight sealed opening into the inner ear. An inner ear section has a proximal end that is connected to the distal end of the middle ear guide member at the sealed opening, and a closed distal end terminating the inner ear holding member some predetermined distance within the cochlea. A hollow interior of the inner ear section is configured for containing a replaceable pharmaceutical agent, and an outer surface is configured to release the pharmaceutical agent from the hollow interior into the inner ear of the patient. The middle ear section and the inner ear section are configured to cooperate for replacing the pharmaceutical agent through the proximal end of the middle ear section to the inner ear section.

The first fluid connector portion includes a first locking member, a lumen and a septum for sealing the lumen. The second fluid connector portion includes a second locking member, a lumen and a hollow needle that is retained in and protrudes from the aperture at the end of the lumen. The variation in cross-sectional area of the fluid path through the fluid connector portion is less than 1 mm2 to reduce mixing effects. The use of such a connector for neurosurgical purposes is described.

摘要： A transcutaneous implantable access port for removal and/or return of fluids of a patient comprises a fixation unit adapted to be fixed to a bone of the patient; a valve unit comprising a sealing membrane at its distal end and one or more chambers; an internal conduit fluidly connectable to vascular structure of the patient and releasably connectable to the valve unit to establish fluidic communication between the internal conduit and said one or more chambers; and an extracorporeal connecting member having an end portion. The extracorporeal connecting member is connectable to the distal end of the valve unit, opening and closing a fluidic passage between the connecting member and said one or several chambers when the connecting member is respectively connected to the access port and withdrawn therefrom. The access port can be used for high volume removal and/or return of blood or other fluids from the patient.

摘要： An apparatus and method for introducing portals into bone is described herein. An example apparatus for introducing portals into bone includes a handle, a base, and a driving member. The driving member can be made to project past the base by operating the handle. The base is detachable from the handle. The apparatus also includes a guide coupled at a first end to the handle and at a second end to the base. The base is detachably coupled to the guide. A base coupling detachably coupling the base to the guide includes an actuating member movable between a coupled configuration wherein the base is coupled to the guide and an uncoupled configuration wherein the base is released from the guide. The actuating member is arranged so that motion of the handle toward the base moves the actuating member from the coupled configuration to the uncoupled configuration.
