    • An actuator is provided. The actuator comprises a base portion, a cantilever beam connected to the base portion, and an actuator cell adjacent to the cantilever beam. The actuator cell comprises a first metal electrode positioned on the cantilevered beam, a second metal electrode positioned near the first metal electrode, and phase change material between the first and second metal electrodes, wherein the phase change material connects the first metal electrode to the second metal electrode, wherein applying a burst of energy to the phase change material causes the phase change material to change between an amorphous state and a crystalline state, causing the cantilevered beam to move between a first position and a target position, wherein the cantilevered beam remains at the target position upon removal of the energy.

    • A thermally sensitive switch has a thermally conductive body within which is a chamber into which extends at least one electrically conductive terminal. Occupying the chamber is an elastomeric body which is expansible and contractile in response to increases and decreases, respectively, in its temperature. The elastomeric body may be normally conductive or normally nonconductive, but in either event is conductive when in its expanded condition. When in its expanded, conductive condition, the body engages the terminal and is operable to establish a current path through the body to the terminal. The body may function as an on-off switch or as a rheostat, depending upon the composition of the body.

    • The current interrupter according to this invention has for its object to prevent overheating of electric cigar lighters. Said interrupter includes a tube which is made of thermoplastic resin of low inflammability. Within said tube, the terminal of the cigar lighter and an auxiliary terminal are placed coaxially and in contact with each other by means of a spring. When the cigar lighter has reached above the predetermined temperature, said thermoplastic tube softens and deforms axially by the action of the spring whereby as the contact between said terminals breaks, the current supply to the cigar lighter will be suspended at once.
