    • The present invention is directed to a novel foamed polymer material for use as a dielectric in electric transmission lines. The foam dielectric of the present invention is obtained from extrusion of a polymer alloy and a supercritical fluid, especially carbon dioxide. Specifically, the foam polymer dielectric is made by: (1) feeding a polymer alloy into an extruder and heating the polymer alloy, (2) feeding a supercritical fluid into the extruder, (3) mixing the polymer alloy and the supercritical fluid, (4) exiting the polymer alloy and the supercritical fluid from the extruder, and (5) passing the polymer alloy and the supercritical fluid through a crosshead. The foam dielectric of the present invention may be used in coaxial transmission lines. In this embodiment, an inner conductor is surrounded by the foam dielectric, which is further surrounded by a second conductor. Stripline and microstripline transmission lines may also be manufactured using the disclosed foam dielectric.

    • A synthetic resin shaped article having good antistatic properties, composed of a substrate, at least part of which is covered with a synthetic resin surface layer integrated with the substrate. This shaped article is prepared by polymerizing 100 wt. parts of a mixture comprising (A) more than 20 wt. % of a monomer of the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is H or CH.sub.3, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are H or C.sub.1-9 alkyl, m is from 1 to 10, and X.sup.- is an anion, (B) less than 79.99 wt. % of a monomer having one unsaturated double bond and (C) 0.01-10 wt. % of a monomer having at least two unsaturated double bonds; subsequently adding (D) up to 190 wt. parts of a monomer having one unsaturated double bond and (E) up to 10 wt. parts of a monomer having at least two unsaturated double bonds to the formed polymer and polymerizing them to form a copolymer(a); forming a film of the copolymer(a) on the surface of a casting mold; supplying a starting material for a synthetic resin substrate into the casting mold; and polymerizing the starting material to transfer the film to the substrate surface from the molding surface.
