摘要： A convertible package having an interior for holding a flowable product, e.g., a powder or granular material. The package includes at a front panel, a rear panel, and a removable covering. The front and rear panels are formed of a flexible sheets having a peripheral edge along which the panels are heat sealed to form the package's hollow interior. The removable cover is made up of a front cover sheet and a rear cover sheet, which are formed of a flexible material and are of a sufficient extent to encompass the entire area of the front panel and rear panels, respectively. The cover sheets are releasably secured along their periphery to respective ones of the packages front and rear panels to effectively isolate those panels from the ambient surroundings. The two cover sheets are arranged to be peeled off the panels, leaving the front and rear panels secured together with the product sealed within the hollow interior of the package.

In preferred embodiments, a rib-and-trough closure arrangement is provided so that the pouch construction can be selectively closed to inhibit distribution of material, when desired. 摘要： A cleaning kit for use in cleaning surfaces in clean rooms, semiconductor fabrication plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, etc. A stack of extremely clean wipers is packaged together with a container of cleaning fluid in a liquid-tight outer container. The kit is stored until just before it is to be used. Fluid is released from the inner container into the wipers. In one embodiment, the inner container is frangible and is broken by application of hand pressure to the outside of the outer container. The cleaning liquid is allowed to soak into the wipers, and the wipers are removed from the outer container for use. The container can be resealed to protect the wipers after the package has been opened. This device and method minimize deterioration of the wiper material due to prolonged contact with the cleaning fluid, and minimize the loss of effectiveness of substances such as biocides which might deteriorate due to prolonged contact with the wiper material.

摘要： A system of the present invention includes a tandem package and an apparatus and method for making the same. The tandem package includes a strip of film material having a plurality of medicament containing compartments. To prevent ripping or exposure of the medicament in an adjacent compartment upon opening of an individual segment of the package, each compartment is separated by a dividing member. In addition, to facilitate opening of the each segment while providing increased resistance to opening by children, each segment includes a pinhole in at least one corner of the segment perpendicular to a fold line. Thus to open the segment to expose the medicament, the corner may be folded along the fold line and torn at the pinhole, with the dividing member limiting tearing of the film. The apparatus and method of the present invention include a number of sub-assemblies for sealing the film, forming the compartments, placing the dividing member between the compartments, placing the dose of medicament in each compartment and cutting the continuous web into strips having the desired number of segments therein.

摘要： The present invention provides a sturdy display package which, in an embodiment, is made of first and second peripherally sealed transparent PVC sheets approximately 7.5 mils thick each. The package is particularly useful for displaying and protecting small items such as pain reliever packets or condoms. The invention includes a method and apparatus for making such a package. The first sheet is positioned over a nesting plate having a plurality of nesting modules, each corresponding to one package and being independently height-adjustable by a shim at a selected location to correct sealing flaws. The second sheet is then positioned over the first sheet so that the items are between the sheets. An RF-sealing die is provided having package-shaped sealing dies, each defining a pocket. The sealing die and nesting plate are pressed together so that each pocket receives a bulge formed by from one of the items. Each pocket has a foam insert which resiliently deforms and presses the second plastic sheet peripherally around the item. The RF sealing die nests against the nesting plate forming a plurality of seal areas, each enclosing one of the items and defining one package. The individual packages may then be cut from a resulting composite sheet.
