    • The present invention provides novel N-benzyldioxothiazolidylbenzamide derivatives that improve the insulin resistance and have potent hypoglycemic and lipid-lowering effects and processes for preparing the same, and relates to N-benzyldioxothiazolidylbenzamide derivatives characterized by being represented by a general formula (1) ##STR1## [wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 denote identically or differently hydrogen atoms, lower alkyl groups with carbon atoms of 1 to 4, lower alkoxy groups with carbon atoms of 1 to 3, lower haloalkyl groups with carbon atoms of 1 to 3, lower haloalkoxy groups with carbon atoms of 1 to 3, halogen atoms, hydroxyl groups, nitro groups, amino groups which may be substituted with lower alkyl group(s) with carbon atoms of 1 to 3 or hetero rings, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 link to form a methylenedioxy group, R.sup.3 denotes a lower alkoxy group with carbon atoms of 1 to 3, hydroxyl group or halogen atom, and dotted line indicates double bond or single bond in combination with solid line], and processes for preparing the same.

    • A high-frequency heating apparatus capable of heating uniformly a liquid load, having an economical wave guide switching unit and having a compact-sized and economical power circuit to drive a plurality of magnetrons. The high-frequency heating apparatus includes an excitation opening, provided at the bottom of a heating chamber for radiating microwaves to heat the liquid load in a container, a magnetron for generating the microwave to heat the object and a wave guide connected to a magnetron. The apparatus further includes a wave guide switching unity for switching the propagation of the microwave to one of plural wave guides. The switching unit includes a pair of circular conductive plates and a conductor disposed in the vicinity of a circumference of the circular conductive plate so as to shut off the microwave, wherein there is constructed a choke structure on the wave guide containing the circular conductive plates. The apparatus further includes a magnetron drive circuit including a filament heating power supply connected to each filament of the magnetrons, a high voltage generating element and a switching element for selectively supplying a high voltage from the high voltage generating element to an anode of the magnetrons.

    • In a method and apparatus for measuring temperature by using a state change of a working fluid, a temperature measurement is executed in a manner such that the working fluid is initially supplied at a constant mass flow rate into a flow channel having a throttle portion at a temperature-sensitive portion. Upon the measurement of a pressure difference between opposite ends of the throttle portion, the temperature can be determined through a calculation using the measured pressure difference. The temperature measuring apparatus includes a source of a working fluid and a probe. The probe includes an external cylinder closed at one of its ends and an internal cylinder which is accommodated in the external cylinder and has a capillary tube at its forward end. The apparatus further includes a supply tube for introducing the working fluid from the source into either the internal cylinder or the external cylinder, and a pressure control device. A mass flow control device is further disposed in series with the supply tube to control the mass flow rate. A differential pressure gauge for detecting a pressure drop across the capillary tube and a temperature determining device for determining the temperature in accordance with a signal output from the differential pressure gauge is included in the temperature measuring apparatus.
