    • Disclosed is a method for producing a succinimide compound. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a succinimide compound represented by the formula (3) below (wherein R5 represents a straight chain, branched or cyclic alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms or the like) by reacting an aminomalonic acid ester compound represented by the formula (1) below (wherein R1 and R4 independently represent a straight chain, branched or cyclic alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms or the like, and R2 and R3 independently represent a hydrogen atom or the like) with a compound represented by the formula (2) below (wherein X represents a halogen atom) in a solvent in the presence of a base. This method for producing a succinimide compound is characterized in that an alcohol is used as the solvent and an alkali metal alkoxide is used as the base.
